Cherry excitedly got in her car and drove to the hospital.
Seeing how things were unfolding, she felt she''d be missing a golden opportunity if she didn''t get to Lionel quickly and tell him what happened.
At the hospital.
Lionel was on edge. It was almost time for Hannah''s meeting with those people, and he had no way of knowing what was happening.
Just as he was at his wit''s end, he saw Cherry striding in excitedly. Before she could even say a word, Lionel blurted out anxiously.
"So? Did Hannah not go? Did she figure out it was a trap and stay away?"
Cherry frowned at him, wondering why he felt the need to ask the same question twice.
But this wasn''t the time to waste on pointless chatter.
She walked over to the sofa, sat down, crossed her arms, and said with a smirk, "Dying to know what happened, aren''t you?”
"But before I tell you, answer a question for me first. You told Quennel about this, right? Did he go and help? I remember you calling him when I left yesterday. You didn''t tell him to stand down, did you?"
Cherry wasn''t in a hurry to give him the details.
After all, it was more fun to drag out the interesting parts.
“I called to ask him how it was going, and he said he was at work and didn''t have time to deal with it. We got into a fight, and then he blocked my number. So I have no idea if he did anything or not. Now stop wasting my time and just tell me,”
Lionel said furiously.
Just thinking about yesterday made his blood boil.
Cherry was speechless.
Sometimes she thought that if this man were mute, there would be a lot less trouble in the world.
Seeing Cherry remain silent, Lionel grew even more anxious.
He clenched his fists, the veins on the back of his hands popping. After taking a few deep breaths, he asked through gritted teeth," "Cherry, I''m talking to you. Did you hear me? Tell me what''s going on with Hamah right now."
After he said that, a thought
urred to him. This woman was always after resources. If he offered her something now, she would definitely talk but it didn''t seem like fair trade.
But seeing her stonewall him like this, he felt like he''d go crazy from anxiety if she kept dragging it out.
After mulling it over, he finally said, "I can give you more resources. Just tell me. Now."
Cherry was stunned for a few seconds.
She was just trying to drag it out for fun, not actually nning to trade the information for resources.
But since Lionel had offered them up himself, she had no reason to refuse.
Cherry stood up, walked to the foot of the bed, and rested her hands on the footboard. She leaned forward slightly and said with a chuckle.
“Alright, since you put it that way, I''ll tell you. Hannah did go, but when she got there, no one was around."
"But..." she drew out the word dramatically, "just as Hannah was looking around someone suddenly appeared Guess who Here''s a hint it''s someone you know very well."
Lionel''s brow furrowed in thought. After a moment, something clicked, and he said excitedly, "It wasn''t Quennel, was it?"
In those few short seconds, he''d run through a list of names, but Quennel was the most likely candidate.
"You got it. It was Quennel! He told Hannah he''d already taken care of those guys."
