Lionel exploded with rage. "Nonsense!" he seethed. "I was the one who told Quennel to handle it! What does he have to do with anything?"
He couldn''t believe Quennel would steal his credit. "That shameless bastard, trying to take all the glory. Did he even tell Hannah I was the one who sent him?"
Hearing Lionel call Quennel shameless, Cherry wanted to retort that he was the most shameless person she knew. All he did was p his gums, ordering someone else to do the work, and then he had the nerve to im it as his own
aplishment.
Even without his orders, Quennel would have handled it.
With Quennel''s capabilities, he would have found out about the situation on his own. He didn''t need Lionel to tell him.
Lionel just happened to say something right before Quennel acted, making it seem like Quennel was following hismand.
"Of course Quennel didn''t tell Hannah you sent him. And even if he had, so what? Did you expect Hannah toe running over here to thank you for ordering Quennel to handle things?"
Cherry rolled her eyes. "And think about it. You only knew because I told you. All Quennel had to do was a little digging to find out why you were attacked. Once he knew those people were after Hannah, there''s no way he would have just stood by."
She analyzed the situation carefully. "Even if you hadn''t said anything, he would have taken care of it. Besides, you ordered him around so arrogantly, which probably just made him more defiant. You two brothers don''t get along as it is. When he agreed to help, he was mostly thinking of himself. You knew that, right?”
After she finished, she looked at him thoughtfully. Seeing his frustrated and embarrassed expression, she couldn''t help but scoff before continuing.
"I didn''te here just to mock you. I came because we''re partners, after a fashion. So when something happens, I have to be the first to let you know."
"Look at our partnership. You''re getting all the benefits. The least you can do is throw some resources my way now and then. And don''t use. that tone you use with your brother on me, or one day I might just decide I don''t want to work with you anymore."
She lowered her voice, her eyes half-lidded as she threatened him, "It''s not easy to find someone in Hannah''s circle who''s willing to work with you. Understand?"
With that, Cherry smiled and left the room, not wanting to waste another breath on the idiot.
She had originallye just to mock him, but getting some free resources out of it was a nice bonus.
Maybe she should stop by more often; she might get resources every time. Big or small, she''d take any help she could get to support her parents'' business.
After leaving the abandoned building, Hannah, Samuel, and Quennel went to a night fair, eating and drinking together.
Hannah expressed her gratitude to him several times, telling him to let her know if he ever needed any help.
Quennel nodded, epting her offer without any formality.
Suddenly, a thought struck him. "Lionel is in the hospital. He''s the one who asked me to handle this, but I got busy withpany stuff right after and haven''t had a chance to report back. If you see him could you let him know for me? We had bit of a disagreement, so blocked his number and don''t feel like unblocking him."
Hannah was stunned for a moment to hear that Quennel had also blocked Lionel.
"Well, that''s inconvenient. I blocked
him too. And haven''t been to see
him since heard he was
hospitalized don''t n on it
Every time we see each other, we just end up fighting. There''s no point."
