"Please focus on your recovery. I''ll take care of all your medical expenses," Juniper said, her tone utterly sincere as she bowed respectfully. "Thank you for looking after Coralie all these years."
With her entire family lost at sea and her childhood friends tragically gone, Juniper knew that without the Director''s care, Coralie might havepletely broken down. She might never have lived to see this reunion. To their family, this was an unpayable debt of gratitude.
"Go find her," Director Evans waved a hand weakly, a gentle smile on his face. "She''s been waiting for you for over a decade. She''ll be overjoyed to finally see you."
Shanley frowned, his dark eyes brooding. If Flint''s big mouth hadn''tpletely derailed things, there would still be room to salvage the situation.
Meanwhile, in a pitch-ck room.
Coralie woke up, her eyes darting around in panic. Thest thing she remembered was walking out of a coffee shop. Barely a few steps down the street, two thugs had dragged her into a van.
Who could it be?
Sitting on the cold floor, Coralie mentally filtered through a list of enemies. Running a casino naturally ruffled some feathers, but who would be brazen enough to snatch her off the street in broad daylight? She couldn''t think of a single name.
No. Staring into the darkness, Coralie forced herself to breathe. She had finally found a lead on her family''s whereabouts. She couldn''t die now.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Coralie scrambled to her feet and hammered her fists against the heavy metal door. "Is anyone there? What do you want? If it''s money, name your price!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Listening to the relentless pounding from inside, Flint felt like his eardrums were going to burst. Where was the Boss?
"Hey! Somebody answer me!"
Unable to take it anymore, Flint yanked the door open and red at her. "What are you yelling for?! Shut up!"
"You?" Coralie froze, recognizing her kidnapper. She had seen him before he was Shanley Schwartz''s right-hand man. Why would Shanley''s men kidnap her?
"What is Shanley ying at?" Coralie''s fear evaporated, instantly reced by fiery rage.
"ying at Flint, already annoyed by the noise, didn''t bother filtering his words. "You tried to steal our Boss''s woman, and you have the nerve to ask why?!"
"What?" Coralie craned her neck, staring at him as if he had just sprouted a second head. "Who did I steal?"
"Don''t y dumb." Flint gave her a deadly re. "Our Boss worked incredibly hard to win over Juniper. Back off."
What the hell? Was he using her of fighting Shanley for Juniper? He had to be out of his mind!
"So he grabbed me to do what?" Coralie didn''t have the patience to argue with a lunatic. "Kill me?"
He couldn''t be that insane, right? Rumor had it Shanley Schwartz was ruthless, but murder over a
misunderstanding? She had thought the rumors were exaggerated. What kind of psychopath had her little sister gotten involved with?
"How should I know?" Flint shrugged, his tone dripping with sarcasm. When it came
to Juniper, there was nothing the Boss wouldn''t do.
"I want to see Juniper," Coralie said, swallowing hard. "I have something extremely important to tell her."
"You want to see Ms. Payne? Keep
dreaming Flint sneered, leaning against the doorframe like a street thug "She''s at the hospital for a family reunion she doesn''t have time for you."
The hospital? Family reunion?
Did she go see Director Evans? If she did, she would definitely find out they were sisters.
Would Juniper be happy?
