"Who?"
Juniper''s heart seized violently. She took a step closer to the bed, her voice cracking. "Please, say that again. I don''t think I heard you."
"Coralie Quill!"
Assuming Juniper simply didn''t know who she was, the Director helpfully pulled out his phone and swiped to a photograph to show her.
The woman in the photo looked to be in her early twenties. She wore absolutely no makeup, her face clean, radiant, and undeniably youthful.
It was a stark contrast to the heavily made-up, seductive, and fiercely morous Coralie Quill that Juniper knew.
They looked like twopletely different people.
Coralie Quill.
It was really her.
So Shanley hadn''t been talking nonsense when he said her back looked exactly like Ebony Fox''s.
If her sixth sister hadn''t been wearing such thick makeup, would Juniper have recognized her immediately?
"Thank you."
Juniper stared at the photo, a brilliant, tearful smile slowly blooming across her face. "Thank you so much for giving me the best news of my life."
She silently thanked the heavens for protecting her family and bringing her sixth sister back to her in one piece.
"You don''t need to thank me."
The Director shook his head, wiping away his tears. "That girl has suffered so much over the years. She acts like nothing bothers her, but inside, she''s drowning in pain."
"Ms. Payne, please... take good care of her."
"I will."
Juniper promised, nodding vigorously. Her mind shed back to Coralie drunk and barefoot in the garden, crying on her shoulder about how unfair the world was.
A sharp pang of guilt and sorrow pierced her heart.
But that didn''t matter now.
Coralie was about to find out that fate hadn''t abandoned her after all.
She would never be alone again. She had a family. A massive family.
"Shanley, give me my bag."
Juniper took a deep, shaky breath and turned to look at the man beside her. She didn''t notice how unnaturally pale he was. "Her business card is in there."
She needed to call her sister right this second.
Shanley gripped her bag, his mind racing in absolute panic.
Juniper''s sixth sister was Coralie Quill?!
So the "overflowing adoration and tenderness" Coralie had been directing at Juniper wasn''t romantic love... it was sisterly love?!
And he had just ordered his men to kidnap her!
"Hello?"
Seeing Shanley frozen like a statue, Juniper walked over and grabbed her bag to
dig for the card. "That''s weird. I''m positive I put it in here."
Shanley pressed his lips together, not daring to make a sound.
He had secretly thrown that business card in the trash days ago.
He peeked at Juniper out of the corner of his eye, drowning in a sea of guilt.
"I have Coralie''s number right here."
The Director held out his phone with trembling hands, a massive, relieved smile spreading across his wrinkled face, "Once that girl hears this, she''ll drop everything and fur straight here."
Run?
Shanley''s frown deepened.
She was probably still unconscious in the back of a van.
Juniper dialed the number, but she was immediately met with a generic voicemail greeting. Her phone was turned off.
"Turned off?"
"She''s probably just tied up with work," the Directorforted her gently. When that girl gets busy, shepletely fases track of time. She''s been known to go days without
sleeping."
It wasn''t that she loved working; it was just how she numbed the pain.
"Shanley, can you have your men track down where my sister is right now?" Juniper asked, turning to him.
Shanley''s lips were pressed in a tight, grim line. He waspletely numb.
"Is there a problem?" Juniper frowned deeply, noticing his strange hesitation.
"Felton-"
Shanley abruptly snapped out of it, summoning his assistant to his side. "Go locate Ms. Quill."
Felton blinked.
He had absolutely no idea what had just transpired in the hospital room, nor did he know that Coralie was Juniper''s long-lost sister.
All he knew was that his boss sounded like he had lost his mind.
Hadn''t Flint just tied Ms. Quill up and thrown her in a dark room an hour ago?
Where exactly was he supposed to "locate" her?
"Boss, you want me to find... Ms. Quill?" Felton asked cautiously, terrified he had misheard.
"Yes."
Shanley pinched the bridge of his nose, his dark eyes narrowing into a lethal warning. "And when you find her, you will bring her back here with the utmost, absolute respect. Do you understand me?"
"Understood."
Felton finally read the sheer panic hiding beneath his boss''s deadly re. He scratched his head, pletely bewildered, and quickly slipped out of the room.
