Chapter 928

    ?Chapter 928:

That final word “murder” hit the room like a sudden crack of thunder. Her voice was steady, but the weight of it sucked the warmth from the air.

For a moment, N faltered. The shift in the room’s energy was jarring, and she hadn’t expected Elena’s words tond so forcefully.

Trying to pull herself together, she snapped, “What nonsense are you talking about? I’m the Healer’s disciple, and you have the nerve to use me of murder?”

Elena curled her lip. “You? A disciple of the Healer? Seriously?” She gave N an extended look, the kind that stripped away every ounce of pride. “Does the Healer even know you’re throwing his name around like that?”

For a second, N forgot how to breathe. It felt like Elena had peeled back her facade and seen the truth she was trying to hide. Was Elena bluffing, or did she actually know something?

N’s stomach twisted, but she couldn’t afford to waver. If anyone found out the truth, she’d be thrown out of the Azure Dragon Unit before she could even beg.

“I am the Healer’s disciple,” N said, voice sharp like a de. “He gave me the dietary supplement. Stop talking nonsense. If I’m not his disciple, then what—you are?”

Elena’s smirk was faint but unmistakable. She truly was the Healer’s disciple. She couldn’t care less about N’s bullshit. But letting her toss around a counterfeit pill in the Healer’s name? That was something she couldn’t ignore.

Without warning, Elena reached out and plucked the pill straight from N’s hand.

N’s reaction was instant. “Hey! What do you think you’re doing? That pill costs more than your life! Break it, and I swear you’ll never pay off the debt, even if you sell your soul!” She lunged forward, frantic.

Elena raised the pill high, letting the light hit it. “Everyone, take a good look. A real dietary supplement is pitch ck with a bitter taste. This one? It’s reddish and smells like candy. Doesn’t that strike you as strange?”

Stories of the dietary supplement had circted for years, but none of the medical staff had ever seen one up close. And because it was so rare and sacred, they hadn’t scrutinized it when N revealed it. Now, prompted by Elena’s words, curiosity won out. One by one, they leaned in for a better look. The differences were ring once they knew what to search for.

A shadow passed over Glenn’s face as he turned to N. “You told us the Healer gave you that pill. If that’s true, why does it look like a cheap knockoff?”

N didn’t have the faintest clue what made the pill different. She had swiped it from Commander Rayne. Thrownpletely off, she stammered, “I… I’m not sure. My mentor gave it to me. It shouldn’t be fake. Maybe it just got damp from sitting around too long. That happens sometimes, right?”

Elena raised an eyebrow. That excuse wasughable. She had never once heard of a priceless elixir turning soggy. Anyone who possessed something so rare would keep it sealed tighter than a vault. Moisture wouldn’t even get close.

From the looks on the medical staff’s faces, no one was convinced by N’s shaky excuse.

Glenn’s eyes hardened. “I’ll ask you onest time, did the Healer actually hand this to you himself?”

“Yes, of course he did!” N said quickly, doing her best to sound like she wasn’t lying through her teeth.

The medical staff couldn’t be sure whether the pill was real or not, but the surgery on Lamont couldn’t wait.

ncing at N, Glenn said, “Since you’re the Healer’s disciple—and the one responsible for Deputy Commander Aston’s care—then the surgery is yours to perform.”
