Chapter 927

    ?Chapter 927:

“Dr. Vance, wasn’t that dietary supplement supposed to work miracles? Why did Deputy Commander Aston get worse after taking it?”

“Are you absolutely sure the pill you gave Deputy Commander Aston was genuine?”

At once, N’s expression hardened. Her voice dropped, sharp and unwavering. “That pill came directly from the Healer. Are you using the Healer of handing me a fake?”

Silence fell. No one dared to reply. Criticizing the Healer, even by implication, was a risk none of them wanted to take.

Lines deepened on Glenn’s face, the strain bing harder to mask. Being publicly confronted by someone beneath him in rank, especially in front of the entire medical team, was clearly beginning to wear on him.

Noticing the rising tension, N said to Glenn with measured calm, “I didn’t mean to offend you. In fact, I hold you in the highest regard. But I won’t stay silent when my mentor, the Healer, is being questioned.”

The director’s expression eased slightly. “In that case, help me understand. Why is Deputy Commander Aston getting worse?”

N replied with conviction, “I’m certain the dietary supplement wasn’t the issue. The cause of his deteriorating condition likely lies elsewhere, perhaps in how he was cared for. The nurse on duty might be able to rify what happened.”

With a single statement, N redirected the me without hesitation. Stepping forward immediately, the head nurse bristled. “Dr. Vance, even if you’re the Healer’s disciple, that doesn’t exempt you from ountability. My team follows strict protocol—we make no mistakes.”

Tears welled in the eyes of the nurse on duty as she spoke up, her voice shaking as she turned to Glenn. “I was there all night, caring for Deputy Commander Aston without rest. If you doubt me, review the surveince footage. I can take fatigue, but I won’t stay silent while someone nders me.”

The look on Glenn’s face turned grim. N’s attempt to shift suspicion clearly didn’t sit well with him. He turned to her, his tone weighty. “Then tell me, N—what do you propose we do now?”

With visible reluctance, N reached into her coat and pulled out the dietary supplement. “Deputy Commander Aston hasn’t regained consciousness. It’s possible the previous dose was insufficient. I’ll try a second application—just a small amount.”

That gave Glenn pause. After all, the first dose had already worsened Lamont’s condition. Was doubling down worth the risk?

From across the room, Elena let out a faint scoff. Her cold eyes locked on N, her expressionced with disdain. N’sck of concern for Lamont was evident. Another dose might push Lamont over the edge and beyond the point of saving.

The moment N spotted Elena, herposure faltered. “What are you doing here?”

Elena offered no reply. Instead, she threw a nce so cold and dismissive that it sliced straight through N’s pride. The faint smirk curling Elena’s lips said everything she didn’t need to voice.

A slow burn lit behind N’s eyes as she locked her re on Elena. “With that $100k? You think I misdiagnosed Deputy Commander Aston?”

N was pissed off. In her mind, Elena was just a pretty face with no formal training or credentials in the medical field. Being questioned by her was beyond insulting.

Elena’s reply came cold and cutting. “His internal systems are being ravaged by poison. And instead of addressing that, you keep feeding him more of what’s killing him. That’s not treatment—it’s murder.”
