Chapter 929

    ?Chapter 929:

    N’s breath hitched. “What?”

The hesitation didn’t go unnoticed. Glenn’s gaze swept over her like a scalpel. “What seems to be the problem? Or are you telling me you’re not up for it?”

Glenn’s intense gaze pressed down on N’s chest. Backing out now would only make things worse. He had already started to question her im of being the Healer’s disciple. If she turned down the surgery now, it would only make her story seem even more unconvincing. Performing the surgery was the only option she had left.

Straightening her posture, N said firmly, “There’s no issue. I’m ready. I can operate on Deputy Commander Aston right away.”

Glenn gave a curt nod, watching her closely. Had N refused, he wouldn’t have let the matter drop. “Good. The operating room’s prepped. Let’s move.”

Elena couldn’t believe what she was hearing. N had actually agreed to perform surgery on Lamont. Of all people, N should have known exactly what she was and wasn’t capable of. That story about being the Healer’s disciple was nothing but a facade. It might convince the uninformed, but once she picked up a scalpel, the truth would unravel fast.

With narrowed eyes, Elena studied N’s steady posture, puzzled by howposed she looked, as if getting caught didn’t even cross her mind. Where was this confidenceing from?

Gazing at Elena, Lucinda wasted no time boasting. “Did you hear that? N’s going to handle Deputy Commander Aston’s surgery herself. She trained under the Healer. You couldn’t possiblypete with that.”

Elena said nothing, her attention fixed on unraveling N’s sudden boldness. She had just examined Lamont and confirmed the worst. His brain injury was serious, and on top of that, he’d been poisoned. No one here but her had the skills to save him.

Soon, Elena finally got to know the real reason behind N’s courage. Calmly, N said to Glenn, “I’m willing to perform Deputy Commander Aston’s surgery, but I have one request.”

Glenn raised an eyebrow. “What is it?”

“I want Dr. Boyd to assist me,” N answered without hesitation.

Glenn looked puzzled. “Jonah Glyn? He isn’t a neurosurgeon. Why would you want him as your assistant?”

N stood firm. “There’s no need for concern. I want Dr. Boyd, and I won’t ept anyone else.”

What gave N the nerve to ept the surgery was simple. Jonah was part of the equation. As Commander Rayne’s private physician, Jonah came from a prestigious line of doctors known for their medical brilliance.

N had assumed that Commander Rayne was the famous Healer, and Jonah, his trusted doctor, must have inherited some of that legendary skill. With Jonah assisting, she figured she could steer the surgery just enough to let him take control, guaranteeing a sessful oue without ever having to do it herself.

Although Glenn couldn’t quite grasp why N was so fixated on Jonah, he wasn’t about to jeopardize Lamont’s chance at survival. In the end, he agreed to summon Jonah.

Jonah rushed toward the operating room, only to stop cold when he learned what N was asking.

“I’m not a neurosurgeon,” Jonah said tly. “There’s not much I can do to help.”

Although Glenn acknowledged Jonah’s concern, he emphasized how firm N had been about her request. “Jonah, we can’t go forward without you. The surgery depends on it.”
