Chapter 926

    ?Chapter 926:

Anxious, N rushed to find the dietary supplement. She held the pill up, squinting at its glossy surface beneath the light. It looked exactly like it should. Everything about it matched what she’d been told. Plus, Commander Rayne himself had vouched for it over the phone. He’d called it the real deal. A guaranteed cure. There was no way this pill was the problem.

That left only one exnation. It had to be human error. Maybe a nurse made a mistake. That theory gave her something to cling to. And for a brief moment, it steadied her nerves.

Back at the Base Medical Center, just outside the ward, Glenn paced relentlessly, casting nces at the elevator every time the light flickered.

Just then, the elevator doors opened with a soft ding.

Glenn rushed forward, expecting N. His face fell when he saw who it really was. “You? Why are you here?” he asked, clearly disappointed.

Elena walked ahead with an air of quiet confidence. “Were you expecting someone else?”

Too consumed with worry to respond, Glenn brushed past her and continued pacing.

It didn’t take long for Elena to piece things together. The patient was in critical condition, and the one assigned to handle it—N—was nowhere to be found. So, this was how the legendary Dr. Vance behaved? She nearlyughed at the thought.

Elena had suspected the poison in Pill B would eventually activate, which was exactly why she hade to check things for herself. What she found only confirmed her worst fear.

Lamont’splexion had faded to a sickly gray, and a thin, dark vein snaked down his neck like a warning sign. The toxin had made it into his vital system.

Elena moved to examine him more closely, but a figure blocked her path.

With a sneer curling on her lips, Lucinda said, “Of all people to run into this early, it had to be you. Why do you keep showing up everywhere? Back off before you screw up his treatment.”

Lucinda hadn’t stopped unting her attitude ever since she learned N supposedly got one of the Healer’s life-saving dietary supplements.

Smug as ever, Lucinda nted her hands on her hips. “N will be here any minute. She’s the Healer’s disciple, you know. This is light work for her. Don’t pretend I don’t see what you’re trying to do.” Her eyes dragged over Elena’s form, full of contempt. “You’re just hoping she crashes and burns. But let me clue you in—N’s got skills. She’s not just anyone. With her on this, Lamont’s going to pull through. So quit with your schemes and take your bitterness elsewhere.”

A sharp chill settled in Elena’s eyes. The Healer’s disciple? Someone who couldn’t even tell Pill A from Pill B dared to im that title?

Whatever game N was ying, it was built on lies. Elena wasn’t about to let it go unchecked. She’d be watching. She wanted to see exactly how N nned to clean up this disaster.

Soon enough, N came rushing into the ward.

Without dy, Glenn turned to her. “Didn’t you say Deputy Commander Aston would recover once he took that pill? Then why is he getting worse? Are you sure the pill was even real?”

Given how Lamont’s condition worsened after taking what should have been a life-saving remedy, it was no surprise that Glenn began to question the dietary supplement’s authenticity. Anyone in his position might have suspected the supplement was fake.

Whispers of doubt had already started to spread among the Base Medical Center staff, though none had the nerve to voice them. N’s supposed status as the Healer’s disciple made her untouchable, and no one wanted to risk crossing that line. But once Glenn spoke up, others found the courage to express their suspicion.
