Chapter 925

    ?Chapter 925:

At that exact moment, the door to the bar opened and a group of Ellis’s colleagues stepped out, voices loud and cheerful. Charlette took a casual step back and smirked, tossing her parting words like a match over her shoulder. “Can’t wait for our next encounter.”

Not waiting for a reaction, she turned on her heel and disappeared into the night.

Ellis barely had time to steady himself before his colleagues noticed his state and rushed to his side, helping him back toward the dorms.

Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, casting soft rays over two naked bodies entwined on the spacious bed.

Towels and robesy randomly across the floor, and the room still carried the faint scent of their closeness.

Out of nowhere, the sharp buzz of a phone broke the silence.

Reaching blindly, Wesley grabbed the device off the nightstand, his voice gravelly with sleep. “Talk.”

After a few seconds of muffled conversation, he let out a grunt and ended the call without another word.

Beside him, Elena stirred, her eyes fluttering open as she caught sight of faint red marks trailing across his chest. Without reacting, she turned her gaze toward the ceiling, unbothered.

Lowering his eyes, Wesley studied her expression. “Did I wake you?”

Instead of answering, she asked, “What time is it?” She had work to get to, and her mind was already halfway there.

“It’s seven,” Wesley said. “Want to sleep a little longer?”

Drawing the sheet over her chest, Elena sat up, already shaking off the haze of sleep. “No. I have to be at theb today.”

Sitting up and reaching out, Wesley let his fingers glide over her bare shoulder and then leaned forward to kiss her skin. “You don’t have to push yourself so hard. Just leave it to the Edgewing team.”

But Elena wasn’t swayed. She had made a promise to Kason—and she intended to keep it.

Wesley leaned in again, hoping for one more kiss, but she ced a firm hand on his chest and gently pushed him back. Quilt in hand, she slid out of bed, leaving him stretched out and uncovered.

Meanwhile, chaos erupted at the Base Medical Center as Lamont’s condition took a sudden, rming turn. “Where’s N? Someone find her, now!”

Lamont’s condition took a sharp and unexpected turn, leaving the entire staff at Base Medical Center scrambling in confusion.

The sharp ring of N’s phone cut through the silence while she was still deep in sleep. She reached for it groggily, blinking at the screen. Glenn’s name lit up. He didn’t waste a second. “N, you need to get to Lamont’s room. It’s serious. He’s crashing!”

N shot upright, her eyes snapping wide open as she woke in an instant. “That’s impossible!” she shouted, her voice rising in panic. “He already took the dietary supplement—how could things get worse?”

Her disbelief wasn’t hers alone. Glenn had been asking himself the same thing since the emergency began. Lamont had indeed taken the pill provided by N. It should have worked by now. Lamont should have been waking up, not spiraling deeper into danger. But instead of showing signs of recovery, his vitals were in freefall, and he hadn’t stirred once since the medication.

Glenn, rattled and out of options, had made this call without hesitation. Over the line, the sound of beeping monitors echoed beneath Glenn’s voice as he urged, “We don’t have time to talk. Just get here!”
