Chapter 911

    ?Chapter 911:

What N really wanted was information on the man beside Elena. Kason’s vague answer didn’t satisfy her, so she tried again. “And this gentleman?” she asked, smiling politely. “He doesn’t exactly look like ab researcher.”

Her voice was soft, with a smile that seemed pleasant enough.

A faint crease appeared between Kason’s brows. Still, he responded, “He’s the CEO of Edgewing. One of the institute’s partners.”

As soon as N heard the answer she had been waiting for, her eyes briefly lit up with excitement. She knew it! This man had an impressive background! At the institute, she had often heard talk of Edgewing—a major force in the military industry. And at the top of that empire? Wesley Spence, the heir to the powerful Spencer Group. An enigma in high society. A name whispered with reverence in every influential circle.

N had a feeling this man was important, but this? This was more than she expected. Inhaling slowly, she quickly masked her excitement. There was no way she’d let Wesley see how flustered she felt.

While N quietly plotted her next move, a soldier burst through the doors, breath short and eyes wide. His urgency cut through the air like a de. “Dr. Vance! It’s Deputy Commander Aston—he copsed! We need you right away!”

Lamont Aston, second-inmand at the Azure Dragon Unit, handled most of the base operations when Commander Rayne was out.

When Kason heard that Lamont had copsed, he quickly urged N to go and help.

A sidelong nce at Wesley told N all she needed—he didn’t even flinch.

That only fueled her determination. This was her moment to shine.

“I’ll head there now,” N said, tone crisp with purpose.

Kason turned to the rest of the group. “I’m going to check on the situation. You all go ahead and eat.”

Lucinda, unable to pass up the chance to brag, quickly jumped in. “You’re talking about N—the Healer’s protégé. Her medical skills are second to none. Even while the Deputy Commander’s unconscious, they asked for her specifically.”

Jealousy had been eating away at Lucinda ever since Elena started drawing attention from both men.

Everyone on base already knew N was the gold standard. In Lucinda’s mind, Elena had no business acting like she belonged in the same league.

“Better say sorry to N while you still can,” Lucinda said to Elena, voice pointed. “If you don’t, don’t count on her treating you when you’re the one needing help.”

On a military base, illness was inevitable. And when that happened, people turned to someone like N—skilled, respected, essential.

At first, Elena had hardly paid attention, but Lucinda kept stressing N’s connection to the Healer.

From what Elena knew, the Healer had never taken on an apprentice. With a calm smile, she nced at N and asked Kason, “Do you mind if I tag along?”

No hesitation came from Kason. “Let’s go.”

That wiped the smile right off Wesley’s face. His eyes narrowed as he watched Elena stand. Was she seriously going with Kason? Rising stiffly from his seat, he followed with a silent re.

Naturally, Charlette trailed after them. Since her boss wasn’t eating, neither was she.

The group made their way to the Base Medical Center, where chaos buzzed just beneath the surface. Inside the emergency room, Lamonty surrounded by medical staff, monitors beeping, and tension thick in the air.

The moment N stepped inside, the director of the Base Medical Center, Glenn Mendoza, spotted her and nearly sagged with relief. “N! You trained under the Healer—you have to check on Deputy Commander Aston right away!”
