Chapter 910

    ?Chapter 910:

Right then, Kason arrived with his meal tray. His pace slowed when he noticed themotion around Elena, and a frown tugged at his brow. “What’s going on here?” he asked, voice calm but sharp.

In an instant, the group straightened up. The tension vanished, reced by stiff postures and silence.

One soldier stepped forward, eager to exin. “Major General Garrett, that woman brought a man without clearance onto the base.”

A man without clearance? Kason’s gaze shifted to Wesley, his expression unreadable.

The soldier pointed at Wesley without hesitation. “It’s him. Should we escort him out?”

The soldier truly believed he was helping Kason out.

Kason cast a quick, unreadable look at Wesley. His tone stayed even. “I invited him. The clearance documents are on my desk. Do you need me to show them to you?”

The soldier stiffened, eyes widening in rm. He shook his head furiously. “No, sir!” Thest thing he wanted was to question anything with Kason’s name on it.

Wait a second—wasn’t Wesley supposedly caught up in some love triangle with Kason’s girlfriend? Then why would Kason bring Wesley here himself?

Realization hit, and the soldier turned to re at Webster. His face burned. He’d just embarrassed himself in front of the entire cafeteria, thanks to Webster’s lies.

Kason’s voice dropped a note colder. “If you’re done eating, you can burn it off on the track and run a couple ofps.”

Groans filled the air instantly. After a grueling morning of drills, the soldiers had been counting on their break. Now, thanks to Webster, that break was gone. With a chorus of muttered curses, the group marched out, each one shooting Webster a dagger-like re as they passed.

Webster shrank back, slipping into the crowd before Kason could decide he was next.

The cafeteria grew quiet once more, and N chose that moment to make her move toward Wesley. From the instant she saw him, something about him had stood out—an air of authority, a presence that demanded respect. And since Kason showed him respect, he had to be someone important. Men like him didn’t just appear on base every day, and she wasn’t about to miss her shot.

With a soft smile and poised steps, N walked up to Wesley. “Hi, I’m N Vance. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

She extended her hand, voice smooth and inviting.

N was confident—men were always drawn to women who came off sweet and delicate. She was sure Wesley would be no exception.

But Wesley didn’t spare N a nce. Without acknowledging her at all, he walked past and took the seat next to Elena.

N stood frozen in ce, her smile faltering in an instant.

N was pissed. This man didn’t even acknowledge her presence.

Around here, N was treated like royalty—soldiers went out of their way to impress her, not ignore herpletely. A flicker of something sour glinted in her eyes as she threw a nce in Elena’s direction. This woman again. First Kason, and now this man? Elena wasn’t satisfied with one—she had to go after both. The nerve!

Outwardly, N kept herposure, face calm and voice sweet. She turned to Kason with a casual tone. “Major General Garrett, are these your guests?”

Kason and N had crossed paths once at Commander Rayne’s residence, and unlike Wesley, Kason hadn’t acted indifferent toward her back then. Kason’s reply came with little energy. “They’re experts brought into the institute.”
