?Chapter 761:
The reason she didn’t kill him right then and there was simple—this was Avaloria. Shadow’s people could be close by. If she killed Earle now, there would be no way for her to escape. Her only aim was to get out of Avaloria alive.
It was as if Earle could read her thoughts. He shook his head with a rxed smile. “You’re not escaping. Just give up.”
Elena didn’t answer.
Suddenly, Earle’s eyes narrowed—he charged forward. He reached for the gun, but Elena reacted immediately, throwing it away.
The two fought hand-to-hand in the corner.
Elena delivered a direct punch that made Earle stumble backward, and then followed with a side kick that hit his shoulder hard.
A spark of excitement lit up Earle’s eyes—he stopped going easy on her. As Elena attacked again, he moved to the side quickly, grabbed her wrist, and twisted it until her shoulder popped out of ce with a horrible crack.
Sweat appeared on Elena’s forehead, and her lips turned white—but she kept looking at him steadily.
She held her injured arm and then twisted it sharply. A clear pop sounded as the bone went back into the joint.
Her movements were quick and exact. Even Earle was surprised by her toughness. Most men couldn’t handle that kind of pain, but she put her own shoulder back in ce without even flinching. She was something else entirely.
Elena wasn’t about to take that lying down. After Earle popped her shoulder out of joint, she hit back by slicing the back of his hand open—deep enough to see the bone.
Earle looked at the gash, noticing the sh of silver needles that had suddenly appeared in her hand. Blood steadily dripped from the back of his hand, sttering on the floor.
Unfazed by the blood, he chuckled. “Right. Every sweet thing’s got a sharp edge. I should’ve known better than to underestimate you.”
The air between them crackled with danger. Whatever attraction had been there just moments before waspletely gone.

Behind Elenay the discarded gun. Earle was closing in. She had to get to it. If this fight went on too long and she got tired, she was screwed.
She paused, trying to buy herself some time. “I don’t have the information you want. I’m not even working for Wesley anymore.”
Earle let out a harsh, humorlessugh. “You think I’m stupid enough to believe that?”
Elena’s lips tightened into a thin line. “Believe whatever the hell you want.”
She’d already taken a few steps back—now she was just one step away from the gun.
Earle’s patience finally broke. His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper. “This is over.”
He was done messing around. He was going to take her. But before he could even move, Elena dove to the ground, rolled forward, and grabbed the gun.
Bang! The bullet just barely nicked Earle’s neck and mmed into the wall behind him. If he’d been a split second slower, he’d be dead. His eyes went dark, a violent glint shing in them as he let out a cold, furiousugh. “Not bad.”
The gunshot scared the fancy party guests and alerted Earle’s goons. A bunch of trained guys in ck suits burst into the room.
“Mr. Miller!”
