    Evelyn followed everyone’s eyes and looked back, seeing Jeffry cutting through the crowd toward them. Her pupils went wide, and she quickly looked away, a wave of unease washing over her.


    “Jeffry, you got here just in time,” Aria said. “Your sister went way too far, ruined Evelyn’s wedding dress, and won’t even say she’s sorry.”


    Evelyn’s eyes narrowed as she silently cursed her meddling mother for stirring up trouble. Jeffry was overly protective of Elena. Would he think they were ganging up on her? Her heart pounding, she risked a nce, watching Jeffry’s face out of the corner of her eye.


    Jeffry immediately stepped right in front of Elena, shielding her like a knight, and without even asking what happened, he dered, “Whatever happened, my sister doesn’t owe anyone an apology.”


    Someone from the crowd piped up, “Jeffry, the Morgan family made it clear—no apology, no wedding.”


    Jeffry’s dark eyes locked onto Evelyn, and her face paled, a cold feeling of dread creeping down her spine.


    His lips barely moved as he delivered the icy words, “Then the wedding’s off.”


    “No! It can’t be off!” Evelyn blurted out, forcing a shaky smile as she scrambled for an excuse. “Jeffry, my mother didn’t mean it like that. This dress is designed by Fannie! She’s flying in right now for the wedding. If she finds out it’s ruined, she’ll be absolutely devastated! We’re just worried about Fannie’s reaction, that’s all. We don’t actually want to call off the wedding, Jeffry.”


    She made sure to drop Fannie’s name.


    Fannie was a huge deal—an internationally famous designer whose unique creations were setting fashion trends worldwide.

    For Evelyn, wearing Fannie’s design on her wedding day was a massive point of pride, especially with Fannie herself actuallying to the wedding. It was a major honor!

    “Holy crap, I can’t believe I’m gonna see Fannie in person! This is a crazy surprise!”
