    The second Aria’s threat was out there, Evelyn’s face went white. She couldn’t shut her mother up fast enough. This was her wedding—the one she’d been dreaming about! No way was she letting her mother cancel it. What on earth was her mother thinking?


    When Aria pulled that “wedding was off” threat to try and force Elena to apologize, Jolie’s face turned thunderous. She treated Evelyn like her own child and had made sure this wedding was perfect. But that didn’t give the Morgan family the right to act so entitled.


    Elena hadn’t done anything wrong, and Jolie would never force her to apologize.


    Trying to keep the peace on what was supposed to be a happy day, Jolie bit back her fury and tried to talk some sense into Aria. “A dress can be fixed or reced, Aria. Canceling an entire wedding over something like this is just unreasonable.”


    Aria, however, mistook Jolie’s tone for giving in and immediately started acting like she was calling the shots. She doubled down, her voice sharp. “Then Elena needs to apologize. And she needs to pay for Evelyn’s ruined dress and buy her a brand new one.”


    Aria stuck out her greedy hand. “This dress cost fifty million.”


    The guests, after hearing this, immediately jumped on the bandwagon, piling on Elena.


    “Fifty million down the drain!”


    “That’s a masterpiece by Fannie! You can’t just throw money at that!”


    “She’s probably some hick who’s never even heard of Fannie.”


    “Even if she’s clueless, she should’ve known better than to mess with something that looked that expensive! How awful! Elena needs to apologize to the poor bride!”


    With all these judgmental people backing her up, Aria became even more emboldened. She was convinced canceling the wedding before it even started would be a huge p in the face to the Harper family, and surely Jolie wouldn’t dare risk upsetting her now. Presumably, in the future, Jolie would think twice before slighting her precious daughter Evelyn!

    Who even cared about the Harper family? As rich as they were, they still had toe crawling to her for her daughter’s hand in marriage. If Jeffry hadn’t had such a bright future, she wouldn’t have even considered letting her daughter marry into a family with Elena, such a badly behaved daughter.


    Evelyn had almost told her mother to stop making a scene, but seeing everyone siding with them and tearing Elena down, she figured it was best to stay silent. Maybe this way, Elena would know she wasn’t someone to be taken lightly.


    So, when Aria started demanding an apology from Elena, Evelyn just silently nodded along, thinking it was the right call.


    “Who the hell are you demanding an apology from?” A deep voice cut through like a knife.
