Chapter 1147

    ?Chapter 1147:

Leonardo’s expression darkened slightly. He nced at the three princes, frustration clear on his face. “This is what happens when you go against your own father.”

I gripped my short sword tightly, my eyes burning with determination. I was ready to fight our way out of this.

Just then, the sound of hooves thundering in the distance reached my ears. I whipped around to see a cavalry unit charging toward us, with Amon at the front.

“We’ve got your back! Hang in there!” Amon yelled, raising his spear high.

His arrival lit a spark of hope in us, lifting our spirits and shifting the momentum of the fight. A sharp look of malice flickered in Antoni’s eyes, and his smile stiffened. Leonardo’s expression also darkened.

Antoni leaned in close to Leonardo, whispering, “This isn’t going well. We need to fall back!”

Leonardo clenched his teeth, hesitation flickering in his eyes, but eventually gave a reluctant nod. “Fall back!” he shouted, manding his soldiers to retreat.

Before they left, Antoni nced back at me, his smile full of mockery. “Makenna, this is my first gift to you. Next, I’ll find Alice and your son and end them! Just you wait!”

I stood there, fists clenched, eyes cold as I watched them retreat. Antoni. Leonardo. I would make you both pay for this.

    Makenna’s POV:

Once Antoni and Leonardo retreated with their soldiers, I shook off the weariness and the ache in my bones, rushing to Bryan’s side with a heart pounding in dread.

The arrow had cruelly lodged itself deep in his shoulder, blood painting his frame as it cascaded down his arm, pooling ominously on the ground beneath him.

“Bryan, can you hear me? Are you alright?” My voice trembled, barely holding back the overwhelming fear within me.

His face was drained of color, yet he managed to summon a faint smile. “No need to worry… I’ll pull through.”

My hands shook as I steadied him, my fingers grazing his cold skin, each touch sending a sharp pang of anguish through my chest. “Does it… hurt terribly?” I stammered, my words faltering as I gazed at the wound, feeling as though the arrow had pierced my own heart.

Bryan’s eyes, soft and steady, met mine. “Don’t cry… I’m holding on,” he whispered, though the sweat beading on his brow betrayed the torment he was enduring.

yton quickly joined us, lending his strength to support Bryan’s other side. “Enough of this hero act,” he urged briskly. “We need to dress that wound now.”

Jett appeared momentster, pulling a vial of hemostatic powder from his coat pocket. “This will stop the bleeding,” he said gently. “Apply it to the wound first.”

With a nod, I applied the powder to Bryan’s injury and tore a strip from my garment, carefully wrapping it around the wound, my hands still trembling from the ordeal.

Bryan’s gaze lingered on me, tender and deep. Noticing my shaky hands, he spoke softly. “Makenna, your safety is my only concern. That’s worth everything to me.”

I could hardly believe this was the samemanding Bryan, now showing a warmth and devotion that stirred my soul. Gone was the piercing intensity of his usual demeanor, reced by a gentleness that tugged at my heart.

My throat tightened, tears brimming in my eyes, ready to spill over. I fought to keep myposure, my voice hoarse as I urged, “Save your strength… everything will be fine.”
