Chapter 1045

    ?Chapter 1045:

“Is there a remedy?” I pressed, urgencycing my voice.

Jett’s countenance darkened, his brow knitting into a storm. He shook his head. “If my hunch is correct, this potion hails from the Wizard n’s royal lineage. Making its antidote is a Herculean task—itsponents are scarce, and the method is intricate beyond measure.”

A frigid hush enveloped the room.

    My spirits plummeted.

Dayton’splexion turned ghostly, his lips quivering. “What’s our next move? How do we even begin…” he murmured, his voice frail.

Dominic shattered the oppressive stillness. “First, sever the city’s water flow to halt the spread. Our utmost duty is to stem the tide and keep things from worsening.”

Dayton’s gaze sparked with resolve. He nodded vigorously and spun toward a soldier at his nk. “Shut off the city’s water at once! Move swiftly! Then ration out the reserves from my mansion—ensure it’s shared justly. We can’t afford chaos now!”

Hismand stirred a question in my mind. Why had Marehelm’s waters turned toxic, yet the mayor’s mansion remained a sanctuary?

I fixed Dayton with a puzzled stare. The three princes and Jett mirrored my curiosity, their eyes probing.

Dayton coughed lightly, sensing the weight of our unspoken queries. “My mansion draws from its own secluded spring. It’s always been this way—likely why we’ve escaped unscathed.”

His rification soothed my nerves, though only by a thread.

The afflicted townsfolk still teetered on the brink. The antidote was our lifeline.

I turned to Jett, my gaze brimming with urgency. “Jett, lives hang in the bnce. Every tick of the clock could im another soul. Can you forge the antidote?”

    g??????0ν??????.??????, ?????????? ??????????????????

Jett’s mouth drew taut, his brow creasing deeply. “It’s possible to make an antidote, but one vital ingredient belongs solely to the Wizard n’s royals. We would need to procure it.”

A tide of despair surged within me. The Wizard n’s domain was a perilous realm—securing that ingredient would be a quest fraught with danger.

Then, an idea red like a beacon. “I’m a white wolf. Could my blood be of help?”

    Makenna’s POV:

    “No way!”

The moment the words left my lips, a familiar voice resonated beyond the door. We all froze, our heads turning instinctively toward the entrance. Maia strode in, her expression grave yetposed.

“The white wolves have their limits,” she said, her gaze settling on me—warm yet resolute. Her voice carried clearly through the room. “Our healing abilities work wonders on physical injuries but stand powerless against magic potions.”

A sh of anger ignited in her eyes as she continued, “Otherwise, the Wizard n would have been wiped out by our kind long ago. They wouldn’t be unting their power as they do now.”

Unable to ept this harsh truth, I clenched my fists until my nails nearly broke the skin. Nothing but profound helplessness washed over me.

“What should we do then?” The words burst from me before I could temper my frustration. “Just stand by and watch innocent people die?”

With deliberate calm, Maia shifted her gaze to Dayton. Her expression remainedposed but carried undeniable purpose. “Since Cody is dead and the king remains too distant to meddle in our affairs, why not use this to our advantage? News of Cody’s death hasn’t spread. We could rescue the white wolves imprisoned in the werewolf forest.”
