?Chapter 1019:
Gritting my teeth against the searing sting, I shot Cody a defiant re with every ounce of strength I had left. “Cody, your twisted scheme’s going nowhere!”
Then I turned to the princes, shouting, “Forget about me! I’m not scared to die! Kill Cody!”
Cody’s smile vanished, his face contorting into a scowl.
“I want to see if you are really not afraid of death!” he spat icily, and then drove the dagger deep into my shoulder.
“Ah!” A sharp scream escaped me as heat bloomed from the wound, blood surging out in a rush.
I mped my jaw tight, forcing myself to meet the princes’ gazes. My voice shook but held steady. “Don’t give in to him… I’m… I’m okay.” But I’d misjudged how much I meant to the three princes.
Bryan’s lips quivered as he blurted out, “I’ll give up my werewolf powers!”
“We’ll pull our forces from Marehelm too,” Dominic added, his tear-filled eyes burning with frustration and despair.
yton fixed me with a look of anguished concern. “As long as you release her!”
“NO!” I cried out, my voice breaking as tears spilled down my face, mixing with the blood streaking my cheeks.
I shook my head wildly, my throat raw. “I’d rather die than let a monster like Cody control us!”
Cody’s irritation red at my resistance, his grip tightening on the dagger as he poised it for another strike.
But then, a voice sliced through the suffocating tension.
“Father! Save me!”
At those words, Cody’s hand stalled mid-motion, hovering in the air.

Makenna’s POV:
My heart lurched. Driven by instinct, I followed the sound. The feeling of agony within me immediately vanished, reced by shock. I watched as Antoni was dragged forward by two soldiers. They forced him to kneel at the feet of the three princes.
Antoni’s clothes were ripped to shreds, and his body bore several gashes. His hair was disheveled, stered to his face, and his once-arrogant look was now reced by pure terror.
Antoni looked so pathetic that it was almost funny.
Despite my own pain and the fact that I was in danger, I felt satisfaction flood through me at seeing Antoni defeated.
Cody’s reaction was one of shock. His hand froze mid-air with the dagger it held.
“This is impossible!” he roared, his grip on the dagger loosening. Bryan chuckled coldly at his words. “Don’t tell me you don’t recognize your own son?”
Then Bryan’s grip on Antoni’s neck immediately tightened, forcing Antoni’s face to turn red.
Antoni wed desperately at Bryan’s hand, trying to dislodge his grip, but to no avail.
“Let’s see what matters to you more. Marehelm or your son’s life,” Bryan said menacingly.
His grip on Antoni’s neck tightened further, and Antoni’s struggles seemed to weaken.
