?Chapter 1020:
“Stop!” Cody screamed, his voice raw with desperation.
Bryan, however, paid no heed to him. He instead said coldly, “Release Makenna or Antoni dies.”
One could tell from Bryan’s tone that he wasn’t going to negotiate.
“You must be mad! Don’t you care about her life? Don’t you care about Makenna?” Cody roared, swinging the dagger wildly.
Dominic smiled cruelly and then answered, “She’s a white wolf. Her wounds will heal. Antoni, on the other hand…”
He paused, and the smile on his face disappeared, reced by a look of deep-seated malice. “We just need to apply a little more force, and he’ll be dead.”
Cody red at them, his face twisted into a look of hate and rage. Then abruptly, he turned to me, a look of madness in his eyes, and lifted the dagger as though to attack me again.
I froze in fear.
Bryan, however, was faster. He grabbed a dagger and plunged it into Antoni’s shoulder.
Antoni let out a bone-chilling scream. Blood gushed from his wound. The crazed look on Cody’s face instantly vanished, reced with fear.
yton, with eyes as cold as ice, dipped a finger into Antoni’s wound, eliciting another scream from him. He asked, “Have you made up your mind, Cody? Do you want your son to live or not?”
Makenna’s POV:
Cody’s face twisted in agony, his muscles convulsing with intense spasms, while his eyes were a turbulent mix of conflict and pain. He nced between me and Antoni, who knelt on the ground, crying in agony. There was hesitation in Cody’s posture, as if he were weighing his options.
“Father, please… it hurts too much…” Antoni’s cries sliced through the tense air, thick with desperation and raw suffering. Each word struck Cody like a blow.

I noticed a brief flicker of hesitation in Cody’s eyes as the madness gradually faded into a quiet frustration.
Then, with a slow inhale, he shut his eyes, anguish etched into his face.
When he opened his eyes again, some of the madness had faded, reced by a hint ofpromise.
“Hand Antoni over, and I’ll let Makenna go. But you must swear to let us leave the werewolf territory—if not, I promise you, even at the cost of my life, I’ll make sure you regret it!” His voice was rough, hoarse with reluctance.
My chest tightened. I thought the three princes would turn down such terms.
But to my shock, Dominic barely hesitated before nodding. His response came swiftly, without the slightest sign of resistance. “Alright, I swear! Let her go, and I’ll guarantee you and your son safe passage.”
I stiffened in disbelief. We held the advantage—why would he let Cody, a man steeped in countless misdeeds, walk away so easily?
My eyes locked onto Dominic, searching for any sign of his reasoning.
Why did he give in to Cody’s demands so easily?
Was there an underlying strategy at y? Or something unspoken that bound his hands?
But the urgency of the situation left me no time to think it over. Still holding me hostage, Cody moved cautiously toward the city’s outskirts.
