Chapter 923

    ?Chapter 923:

Bryan let out a sharp scoff, his eyes narrowing as they locked onto mine. His tone carried a clear edge of suspicion. “Edward is Jett, isn’t he? So tell me, what exactly are you plotting in Marehelm?”

At his pointed question, my expression hardened. I met his gaze steadily, my voice cautious. “Why ask? You already know what I’m after, don’t you?”

I studied their reactions carefully, searching for any hint of their true thoughts.

yton stiffened, something clicking into ce in his mind. A look of shock crossed his face as he blurted out, “Wait… You’re not seriously thinking about going to the werewolf forest, are you?”

Unflinching, I met their stares head-on. My voice was firm. “That’s exactly what I’m nning. You’ve imprisoned so many of our people. It’s only right that I go and bring them back.”

Dominic’s brows drew together in a deep frown, his usualposure breaking for the first time. His voice turned urgent. “You don’t understand—that forest is beyond dangerous. It’s not as simple as you think. If you go, there’s a real chance you won’t make it out alive.”

I tightened my fists, inhaling slowly to steady myself before responding with quiet determination, “Whether I make it back or not isn’t for you to decide.”

As the words left my mouth, a thought struck me. My gaze swept over the three of them, sharp and questioning. “You’ve been to the forest before, haven’t you? What did you find?”

    Makenna’s POV:

The moment my question left my lips, an unsettling silence swallowed the room. It was as if time itself had frozen, trapping us all in a moment too heavy to break.

The three princes stood motionless, their unreadable expressions pressing down on me like an invisible weight, making it difficult to breathe.

Bryan’s brows drew together, his usually sharp eyes clouded with something dangerously close to panic, as if a long-buried truth had wed its way to the surface.

    ???????? ?????????????? ????????: ?????????ν??????﹒??????

Dominic’s lips pressed into a thin line, his gaze colder than ice, yet beneath that detached exterior, I could see the gears of his mind turning, calcting.

yton, however, simply lowered his head, his hands clenching so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

The suffocating stillness stretched, each passing second more unbearable than thest.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, yton lifted his head, his voice hoarse, tinged with bitter hesitation. “Makenna… how much do you really know about what happened back then?”

My heart clenched at his words. Instinctively, I turned away, falling into silence.

I knew the truth. I knew they weren’t the rightful heirs of the Lycan royal family. I was. And if they found out? Would they see me as a threat? Would they eliminate me without a second thought?

The weight of that question settled over me like a noose tightening around my throat. Another wave of silence followed, making it hard to breathe.

Then Bryan spoke, his voice measured but tense. “In the forest, we uncovered pieces of the past… fragments. But one thing is clear: the white wolf n never rebelled. Beyond that, we don’t know enough.”

Dominic stepped forward, his sharp gaze locking onto mine. His tone was steady, yet I could hear the urgency beneath it. “Makenna, tell us the truth. We can’t make a choice unless we know what really happened.”

I met their stares, and a bitter chuckle escaped my lips. It was a hollow sound, filled with nothing but exhaustion. “You want the truth?” My voice wavered, the weight of my words settling over me before I even spoke them. “It’s worse than you could ever imagine. And I’m too afraid to tell you. I don’t know how you’d react, what you’d do once you learned the full extent of it.”
