?Chapter 922:
My eyes narrowed, a sly smile tugging at the corners of my mouth as I leaned in, my voice dropping to a deliberate drawl. “That’ll do nicely. Now, Dayton—the mayor of Marehelm—has a brother-inw.”
Makenna’s POV:
The walk to the hotel with the three princes felt like an eternity, each step heavier than thest. My heart pounded in my chest, anxiety wing at me until I could barely breathe.
The moment we entered the room, before I could even gather my thoughts, Bryan’s expression darkened. In an instant, his hand shot out, gripping my jaw with an iron hold. Pain shot through me, sharp and unrelenting, leaving me only able to let out faint, muffled whimpers.
“Why didn’t you tell me you’re Makenna?” His voice was a de, cutting through the air, his teeth clenched as if he were barely containing his rage. His eyes burned with fury. “Why do they both know your identity, but I’m the only one left in the dark? Why!”
His usations were like sharp des, stabbing straight into my heart. I opened my mouth, but no sound came out. How could I exin? I could only endure the pain radiating from my jaw, spreading through my entire body.
Thankfully, yton intervened, stepping forward and forcefully pushing Bryan away. His tone carried a hint of reproach. “Calm down! Don’t treat her like this!”
With that, yton gently steadied me, his voice soft and filled with concern. “Makenna, are you okay?”
His calm demeanor soothed my frayed nerves, and I nodded silently, trying to steady my breathing.
At that moment, Dominic sauntered over, his expression teasing as he nced at Bryan. His tone was light, almost mocking. “We figured it out on our own. If you didn’t, that’s on you for being clueless.”
“Dominic! You…” Bryan’s anger red even hotter at those words. He turned to re at Dominic, his eyes practically spitting fire.
?????????? ???? ?????? ????????????: g???????ν????????????
Dominic, however, remained utterly unfazed. With a single raised eyebrow and a smirk dripping with contempt, he scoffed, “What? Did I hit a nerve?”
Bryan’s expression darkened even more, his fists clenched so tightly that it looked like he was moments away from lunging at Dominic.
The tension in the room crackled like a live wire, and irritation red within me. I raised my voice, slicing through the hostility. “That’s enough! Stop this—now!”
Bryan let out a sharp scoff, turning his head away, his anger still palpable.
Meanwhile, Dominic simply chuckled, crossing his arms over his chest as if the entire situation amused him.
Once silence settled over the room, I exhaled slowly, rubbing the ache in my jaw. Pushing my frustration aside, I focused on what mattered. “Tell me exactly what happened today.”
Dominic’s gaze lifted slightly, his expression as unreadable as ever. His voice was measured, eerily calm. “The moment it unfolded, I received word.”
A flicker of something cunning danced in his eyes as he continued, “So, I nned ahead and forged that letter.”
He spoke so nonchntly, as if he had orchestrated everything from the very start.
His words stirred a storm of emotions inside me—gratitude, certainly, but also something far moreplicated. After a brief silence, I spoke with genuine gratitude. “Thank you all, truly. Cody wasn’t just prepared today; he was ruthless. If you hadn’t intervened when you did, there’s no way Edward would have made it out unscathed.”
