Chapter 814

    ?Chapter 814:

My head throbbed as I fought through the fog of disorientation, willing my scattered thoughts to coalesce.

“Makenna, you’re awake?” Grace’s voice drifted from the front, ced with worry as she twisted around to catch my eye.

That was when reality snapped into focus. Grace was behind the wheel, while Jett upied the passenger seat, his eyes closed in deep contemtion, his forehead creased with unspoken concerns.

The sight of him triggered an avnche of memories from the pce, making my heart constrict painfully in my chest.

“Grace! Jett! Stop the car!” I cried out, desperation wing at my throat. “I have to go back—my child needs me!”

Jett’s eyes slowly opened, his prating gaze heavy with exhaustion and resignation. “Makenna, we risked everything to get you out of that pce. Would you throw your life away so carelessly?”

“But my child is still there!” Tears cascaded down my cheeks as I gripped the seat with white-knuckled intensity. “If anything happens to him, I’ll never forgive myself!”

Grace caught my eye in the rearview mirror, her voice gentle but firm. “Makenna, breathe. We’ll find a solution.”

“Don’t worry, your child will be safe,” Jett murmured, sinking back into his seat. His words rang hollow, a well-intentioned lie meant to pacify my fears. A single thought consumed me—I had to save my child. Having lost him once before, I couldn’t bear the agony of losing him again.

Frantic, I yanked at the door handle, only to find it firmly locked.

“Open the door! Stop the car!” I pounded against the window, desperation fueling each strike.

Jett’s frown deepened as he spoke. “Evie’s grandmother, Rosaline, was once your mother’s servant. After the White Wolf n’s destruction, she managed to escape. Though not one of the White Wolves herself, she’s shrewd enough to flee at the first sign of danger.”

My heart refused to be calmed. “Antoni is as cunning as he is ruthless. Rosaline’s age makes her vulnerable.”

“Don’t worry,” Grace called back while navigating the treacherous road. “We’ll rescue Winfred. But first, we need to find sanctuary from the Lycan royal family’s pursuit. If you’re captured, both you and your child would face dire consequences.”

The royal banquet scene shed through my mind, drawing a weary sigh from my lips. Grace spoke the truth—there was no denying it.

My heritage as a White Wolf n descendant nowy exposed for all to see, and Leonardo’s murderous intentions were crystal clear. Returning meant certain death; I’d already cheated fate once by escaping, but luck’s grace rarely struck twice.

Still, questions gnawed at me. I turned to Jett, my voice tight with suspicion. “Why did you render me unconscious? And how did you manage to get me out of the pce?”

    Makenna’s POV:

Jett shook his head and sighed. “If I hadn’t knocked you out and gotten you out of there, we might all have been trapped in the pce tonight. I had no other choice but to do this.”

I nodded, my voice heavy with pain. “I understand, but I can’t lose Winfred again…”

Grace exined, “I created a potion that allows us to influence behavior. After receiving a message from Jett, I cooperated with him, using those controlled animals to block the pursuers. That’s how we got you out.”
