?Chapter 813:
My nails carved crescents into my palms as fury ignited in my veins. Meeting Antoni’s malevolent stare, I demanded, “Why can’t I sense our bond? Why can’t I feel him?”
Makenna’s POV:
“You must be really slow. What did you think?” Antoni asked with a mocking smile.
In that moment, it all became clear to me. “It was you, wasn’t it? You tampered with it?” I asked.
Antoni sneered at me and said, “Why do you think you can’t sense him? It’s because I used a special potion to block the connection between you. As expected!”
My eyes widened in shock. However, a suspicion began to grow within me, and I asked, “Why are you telling me now?”
Antoni threw his head back and began tough as though I had said the most hrious thing ever. Finally, he said, “I wanted to see what choice you would make. I wanted to see if you would abandon your son and run away. Little warning, though. If you do that, I’ll kill your son. But if you don’t, the king will have you executed. Isn’t it hrious?” He then burst intoughter again. A shiver ran down my spine upon hearing this.
Antoni’s scheme was truly malicious.
Panic surged within me. If I stayed, I’d be executed. But if I left, that would put Winfred in danger.
Winfred was Bryan’s son. If Bryan knew that his son was alive, he would protect him and keep him safe. But if I ran, no one would know this, and Antoni would harm Winfred.
Just then, I heard footsteps behind me.
Jett looked anxious and urged, “There’s no time! We need to go now. Once you’re safe, I’lle rescue Winfred.”

I bit my lip, my mind in turmoil as an intense internal struggle raged within me.
Upon hearing Jett’s voice, Antoni’s eyes narrowed. Then a slow smile crept onto his lips, and he said, “You must be a wizard, if I’m not mistaken.” Jett immediately grew alert, watching Antoni warily.
Antoni’s smile widened at Jett’s silence. “The potion I used on your child was from the Wizard n, Makenna. This wizard here should have sensed it. I wonder why he didn’t tell you.”
It felt as though I had been struck by lightning upon hearing these words.
I turned to Jett questioningly but found that he was unable to meet my eyes.
In that moment, I felt like I had been dunked in a vat of cold water.
“Let’s go, Makenna. I’ll exin everything once we’re safe,” Jett urged. He stepped forward and reached for me but then hesitated, remembering the effect of the aphrodisiac. Slowly, he withdrew his hand.
My mind was in turmoil, unable to understand why Jett hadn’t told me about Winfred’s situation.
Suddenly, a peculiar, overpowering scent filled the air.
Before I knew it, my eyes grew heavy. Despite my best effort to stay awake, my body betrayed me, and I passed out.
Makenna’s POV:
Consciousness returned to me in a jarring rush as Iy sprawled across the backseat of a car, each bump in the road sending tremors through my aching body.
The night pressed against the windows, broken only by the ghostly silhouettes of trees shing past. We were headed deep into the countryside, jostling along a rugged, mud-slicked path.
