Chapter 800

    Chapter 800:

Makenna looked flustered. Her cheeks flushed red in embarrassment.

“Get up, Jett. It’s actually not that serious,” she said.

My heart was full of shame and regret for what I had done.

“No! I failed to protect Josie, and now I’ve done such a disgraceful thing to you. You are her daughter! I don’t deserve to live for what I’ve done!” I said, hanging my head in shame. If not for the fact that I hadn’t yet avenged Josie, I would have chosen to die immediately to atone for my transgressions.

Makenna reached out to help me up. However, just as she was about to touch me, she paused, her mind seemingly taking her back to the incident with the potion. Quickly, she withdrew her hand.

    “Just get up,” she urged.

I shook my head and remained kneeling. “I won’t get up. Not until I’ve been punished ordingly for my transgressions.”

Makenna gritted her teeth in frustration. “If you don’t get up, I’ll have to lift you up myself,” she said.

As she spoke, she carefully extended her hand toward me again.

As I watched her hand extend toward me, images of what had happened when the potion had taken effect shed through my mind.

I immediately moved out of the way, avoiding her hand.

“Alright, I’ll get up,” I said reluctantly as I stood up.

Makenna sighed in relief when I stood up. Comfortingly, she said, “This isn’t your fault, Jett. It’s all because of that despicable man, Antoni Harrison. The best thing to do right now is…”

“Now, the priority is to find an antidote, as we can’t let this happen again.” I stood there, staring back at Makenna.

Her face seemed to glow faintly under the light. As she spoke, the scene at the library began to rey itself in my mind.

    ?????????????? ?????????????????? ????????: g???????????ν???????????????????

Intimate images flooded back, and I felt my heart begin to pound hard in my chest.

A new feeling started to well up inside me.

Suddenly, I found it unbearable to stay there any longer.

“Yes, I… I’ll find the antidote as soon as possible,” I muttered, avoiding Makenna’s gaze. I then hastily took my leave.

I ran as though I was being chased. It was only when I was out of Makenna’s sight that I slowed down, pulling at my hair in frustration.

What was happening to me? When had I be like this?

The unfamiliar feeling left me confused and frustrated. Could it be that I had really fallen for Makenna?

Once this thought emerged, it was like a seed taking root, sprouting in my heart, leaving me even more at a loss.

    Antoni’s POV:

When I got home, I found myself stuck in this damn house again, locked down by Leonardo’s orders. No freedom.

I slumped onto the couch in the living room, feeling like a total wreck. The servants moved around me in silence, like they were tiptoeing on eggshells. They looked so tense, probably scared that even the smallest sound would send me into a fit of rage.

I gave them a quick, annoyed nce, but honestly, I couldn’t bring myself to yell at anyone. My mind was tangled up with everything that went down at Makenna’s ce earlier.
