Chapter 775

    ?Chapter 775:

“Of course,” she said with a kind smile.

Carefully, I extended my arms, and she passed Winfred to me.

His bright eyes studied me with curiosity, and then his tiny mouth broke into a gurglingugh, his joy infectious.

“His injuries have healed almostpletely,” Rosaline said, her voice filled with pride. “He’s put on a few pounds recently. I took him for a check-up the other day, and the doctor said he’s in excellent health.”

Warmth spread through me as I met her gaze. “Thank you, Rosaline. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

She waved a hand dismissively, her face kind and gentle. “It’s nothing—it’s what I’m here for.”

As we talked, the sun climbed higher, its rays growing stronger. Rosaline gestured toward the house. “Makenna, the sun’s getting harsh. Why don’t we head inside and chat?”

I nced down at Winfred, his soft, cherubic face resting contentedly in my arms. Unable to let go, I smiled and nodded, following her inside.

    Makenna’s POV:

After we entered the living room, Rosaline handed me a ss of water with a gentle smile.

“Thanks, Rosaline,” I said, reaching for it.

Before my fingers could touch the ss, a hand—strong, with knuckles as clear as crystal—snatched it away.

My gaze shot up, following the hand to a cold, proud face that could only belong to Jett. His thin lips curved into the faintest of smirks.

What on earth was Jett doing here?

    ???????????????? ???? ?????????ν????????????

Unfazed by my shock, Jett brought the ss to his lips and sipped leisurely, as if he owned the ce. Setting it down, he looked at me with an almost mocking glint in his eyes. “Finally decided to show up, huh?”

I blinked, still trying to process his presence. “How are you even in the pce? Don’t you know the three princes are turning the ce upside down looking for you?”

Jett let out a soft scoff, his eyes dancing with mischief. “The most dangerous ce is usually the safest hideout. Those buffoons would never imagine I’d hole up here under their noses.”

I steadied myself and shifted to the more pressing matter. “And Grace? Is she alright? Has she recovered from her injuries?”

Jett crossed his arms and leaned back, pletely at ease. “Grace is fine now. She’sying low somewhere outside, which makes it easier for her to gather intel and lend me a hand.”

I nodded, relief washing over me.

But Jett’s eyes narrowed, a probing look stealing over his face. “You know what puzzles me?” he asked, a sly grin forming. “Why did the three stooges let you out of their sight? Aren’t they afraid you’ll bolt again?”

I scratched my head awkwardly. “Well… that’s kind of on me,” I muttered regretfully.

“What do you mean?” Jett’s brow arched in curiosity.

I dropped my gaze, muttering, “I let your name slip by ident. They figured out who you are and probably let me go, hoping I’d lead them straight to you.”

Jett sighed, exasperated. He reached out and flicked my forehead lightly. “You’re such a featherbrain sometimes,” he said, his tone scolding but oddly warm.
