Chapter 774

    ?Chapter 774:

Alone in the wrecked room, a sudden realization struck me. A cold smile spread across my face.

The true effect of the aphrodisiac mist I used on Makenna and Martin wasn’t as limited as merely arousing people. This could be the breakthrough I’d been looking for…

    Makenna’s POV:

Exhausted, I returned home, pushing the door open with a weary sigh. Evie was already waiting near the entrance.

Alice rushed in at that moment, clearly having heard the news. Both women spoke at once, their concern unmistakable.

“Makenna, are you okay? What happened?”

    “I’m fine,” I replied.

Hearing that, they exhaled in unison, relief washing over their features.

Alice’s brows furrowed as she nced at me. “But who would start those rumors?”

A coldugh escaped my lips, and frost crept into my gaze. “Who else but Antoni?”

“That scumbag! He’s absolutely vile!” Alice’s anger erupted like a me. “I can’t let him get away with this—I’m going to confront him right now!” She was already halfway to the door.

“Please don’t,” I said calmly, grabbing her arm. “Alice, don’t do anything reckless. Antoni is probably more furious than you are right now. After all, he was humiliated in front of everyone and punished by the king.”

“Serves him right!” Alice spat, her teeth clenched in frustration. “He got exactly what he deserved!”

Evie, who always remained levelheaded, turned to me. “Makenna, what do you n to do now?”

I let out a tired sigh, raising a hand to massage my temples. “I don’t have a solid n yet. For now, I just need to wait and see. The priority is to find Jett and uncover what really happened back then.”

As I spoke, a fleeting memory of the dream I hadst night stirred something within me. A sudden and undeniable urge to see Winfred took hold.

Turning to Evie, I asked with a faint smile, “How is Winfred doingtely?”

“He’s doing well.” Her expression softened, and she returned my smile. “If you’d like to see him, Makenna, you can go anytime.”

I nodded, her reassurance lifting some of the tension. Later, when time allowed, I went to Rosaline’s house.

From afar, I spotted Rosaline, serene andposed, nestled in a wicker chair in her quiet courtyard. Cradling Winfred in her arms, she sat quietly, soaking in the gentle warmth of the sun.

As I drew closer, the soft melody of an unfamiliar tune reached my ears, gently hummed by Rosaline.

When she noticed me, her face lit up with delight. “Miss Dunn, you’re here!” she greeted warmly.

She looked down at the little bundle in her arms, her voice tender. “Isn’t Winfred such a sweet boy?”

My eyes fell on him. Wrapped snugly in his swaddling clothes, his chubby face glowed pink in the sunlight. His tiny arms and legs wriggled with cheerful energy, as if the world itself amused him.

My heart melted. “Rosaline, may I hold him?” I asked softly, not wanting to disturb the peaceful moment.
