?Chapter 769:
The conversation left me feeling more gloomy.
Alice tugged at my arm gently and said, “You should go get some rest, Makenna. Try not to think too much. We’ll figure something out, but first you have to rest.”
I nodded and dragged my weary body back to my room. I copsed on the bed once I arrived and stared nkly at the ceiling.
My thoughts drifted back to my early days in the pce. Scenes of me spending time with the princes reyed in my head, and each scene hurt my heart.
How had thingse to this? Why had our rtionship deteriorated to a point of no return? Was fate really this cruel?
Amidst the crushing weight of my sorrows, I fell asleep. I dreamed once again of the wolf cub that had appeared in my dreams before.
This time the wolf cub seemed to be happy. He ran happily through the lush green meadow. His fur shone, and his eyes sparkled with vitality. The cub seemed extremely content.
“Awwooo!” he howled when he saw me and ran over excitedly. He happily circled me.
Seeing the cub like that lessened the gloom in my heart. “Are you well now?” I asked with a smile.
To my utmost surprise, the wolf cub stopped and happily replied, “I’m doing great. I just miss you, Mom.”
“Mom?”
That word hit me like a thunderbolt, waking me instantly from my dream.
My eyes opened, and a re of sunlight hit me square in the eyes. It was already daybreak.
I smiled bitterly and said, “It was just a dream. However, I’m satisfied to know that my child is doing well now, dream or no dream.”
???????????????? ?????????????? ???? ?????????????????﹒?????
The words were barely out of my mouth when suddenly the door was violently kicked open with a bang. I turned around in panic to see a group of armed soldiers at the door.
One soldier who seemed to be in charge of the rest said, “We’re here to take you into custody. Pleasee with us!”
Makenna’s POV:
A sharp jolt coursed through my chest, making my breath hitch.
Why were those soldiers here to arrest me? Was my identity as a white wolf exposed?
I forced a mask of calm over my face and asked, “Why are you here to arrest me? What crime am I used ofmitting?”
The chief soldier’s expression twisted with disgust as he spat, “Shame on you. You had the audacity to betray the Lycan royal family by being with another man. His Majesty has ordered your arrest for questioning.”
The words struck me like icy shards. In that instant, I grasped the situation.
Leonardo must have been informed of what happened between Jett and me in the warehouse that day.
I tried to gather more information from the soldier, but his patience had already worn thin. His expression darkened, and with a sharp wave of his hand, he motioned for his men to grab me.
“There’s no need for force,” I said, my voice firm yet resigned. “I’lle willingly.”
nked by the soldiers, I was led into the grand hall. The oppressive air pressed heavily on my chest, stifling my breaths.
Leonardo sat at the head of the room, his eyes zing as theynded on me. With a resounding thud, he struck the armrest of his throne and bellowed, “Makenna! How dare you disgrace us like this!”
