Chapter 764

    ?Chapter 764:

Dominic’s face was calm, his tone steady as ever. “If you chase after her now, you’ll only pour gasoline on the fire. She’ll just get even more furious with us. Is that what you want?”

“Then what am I supposed to do? Have you seen how Makenna’s treating me? It’s worse than when we first met! She acts like we’re the viins in her story!” I threw my hands in the air, pacing like a caged animal.

yton, ever the cool-headed one, stroked his chin thoughtfully. “What if Jett whispered something in her ear? Maybe he’s the reason her attitude has done aplete 180.”

I froze, my brow furrowing in confusion. “What could Jett possibly say to turn her against us like this?”

Dominic’s eyes sharpened like a wolf catching a scent. “Remember when she said that, as a white wolf, she’s at odds with us?”

I nodded, the memory clear as day. “You think this is about the ancient grudge between the white wolves and the Lycan royals? But her mom died in childbirth—that’s got nothing to do with us!”

We fell silent, each of us chasing shadows in our thoughts buting up empty-handed.

Finally, Dominic broke the stillness, his voice a low rumble. “No use tying ourselves in knots over it now. Once we get our hands on Jett, the whole story will unravel.”

I nodded in agreement. “Yeah, but here’s the kicker—how the hell are we supposed to catch him?”

Jett’s whereabouts were an enigma, cloaked in shadows and gnawing at my patience with relentless frustration.

yton let out a long sigh. “I’ve got our men searching high and low, sweeping every corner of the city. It’s like he’s vanished into thin air.”

Dominic’s tone turned icy. “Jett’s been a ghost for twenty years, dodging even our father’s relentless pursuit. He’s a master at slipping through the cracks. But instead of hunting shadows, we could try smoking him out.”

I caught his drift immediately, and…

A surge of anger red up. “Don’t even say it—you want to use Makenna as bait? No way! What if something happens to her?”

To my surprise, yton sided with Dominic. “I think it’s our best shot.”

Were they out of their minds?

“Look, Jett clearly cares about Makenna. If he wanted to harm her, he would have done it already. And we’re not throwing her to the sharks—we’ll have eyes everywhere, ready to swoop in at the first sign of trouble,” yton reasoned, his voice calm but firm.

I was torn. yton’s logic was solid, but the idea of putting Makenna in harm’s way twisted my gut. Still, without this n, catching Jett would be like chasing the wind.

“Fine,” I muttered, the words tasting bitter. “Let’s do it.”

Though my conscience screamed at me, I agreed. The truth was out there, and I was determined to drag it into the light—even if it meant taking a risk I wasn’t ready for.

    Makenna’s POV:

Evening fell, and soon darkness covered the sky. I sat alone in my room, staring out at the night. Confusion and mncholy weighed heavily on my heart.

    Knock, knock…

A series of gentle knocks interrupted my thoughts, followed by a servant’s polite voice outside the door. “Dinner is ready, Miss Dunn. Pleasee downstairs for your meal.”
