?Chapter 763:
I let out a dry, humorlessugh, shaking my head. “You don’t understand. You can’t even begin to grasp the mess I’m in.”
Bryan, growing more frustrated, tightened his grip on my wrist. “If we don’t understand, then exin it to us!”
But I wasn’t in the mood for exnations. All I could focus on was Jett’s safety. I fought against Bryan’s hold, desperate to break free. “I don’t have time to exin! I need to find Jett!”
Makenna’s POV:
The moment the words left my mouth, I realized my error. I had just told them Jett’s name!
I nced at the three princes. They all seemed to be in shock as they processed what they had just heard. After what felt like an eternity, Dominic’s expression darkened, and he asked, “Did you just say that man’s name was Jett?”
“No… no…” Panic surged within me. “I misspoke. It’s Jack I meant.” I quickly made up another name, hoping they would gloss over my mistake.
However, it soon became clear they weren’t going to be fooled so easily. Bryan’s eyes narrowed in suspicion. “I’m certain I heard you call that man Jett,” he said, stroking his chin thoughtfully. “This reminds me of someone named Jett Armstrong, one of the subordinates of the white wolf n’s Saint. When the n was wiped out, he was just a teenager. It’s been twenty years since then, so he’d be in his thirties. The age lines up perfectly.”
yton added, “There’s also a rumor that whenever Jett uses the magic potions, an enchanting aroma fills the air. When we were in the warehouse, he was able to escape by using a potion to make us fall into aa.”
The three of them turned their piercing gazes on me, as though trying to see straight through me.
“Is that man Jett?” they asked together.
Feigning a calm demeanor, I replied, “No! I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Bryan stepped closer, his eyes sharp. “Did Jett tell you something, Makenna? Is that why you resist us at every turn?”
yton’s face lit up with sudden realization. He gripped my shoulder and asked, “Did Jett use a potion on you in the warehouse? Is that why you did what you did with him?”
“Shut up!” I screamed at them. Their nder of Jett ignited a fire within me.
Coldly, I added, “All I wanted to know is if he’d been captured.”
The three of them exchanged nces. Finally, Bryan sighed and said irritably, “We haven’t caught him. The guy is incredibly elusive. We could find no trace of him.”
Relief washed over me at this revtion. Jett was a master of disguise. He wouldn’t be easily captured.
Having gotten the answer I needed, I felt no reason to continue the conversation. I shoved past the three of them. “I’m going to rest. Don’t bother me unless it’s something important.”
Without a backward nce, I strode to my room. Once inside, I shut the door with a loud bang.
Bryan’s POV:
Watching Makenna stride away, I felt a jolt of panic and instinctively started to follow her, but Dominic’s arm shot out, blocking my path like a well-ced barricade.
“Why are you stopping me?” I snapped, frustration bubbling over.
