?Chapter 762:
A warm hand rested on my shoulder, and a deep voice whispered into my ear, saying, “You can ask me any questions you have.”
I turned and met Bryan’s eyes. He sat down next to me and took my hand in his. “Why didn’t you sleep a little longer? Why are you up so early for breakfast?”
I briskly shook his hand off mine and stood up to leave. Before I could take a step, however, Bryan pulled me into hisp.
“Let go of me!” I said as I struggled.
His arms, however, just wrapped tightly around me, holding me in ce. His chin rested on my shoulder, and he softly asked, “Do you want to know if that man has been caught?”
I stiffened at his words. Before I could muster up a response, Bryan continued, “I will tell you, but you have to stay and finish breakfast with me. Do we have a deal?”
Makenna’s POV:
I felt a knot in my stomach, my brows drawn tight in frustration. After a long pause, I finally nodded reluctantly.
But now, sitting ufortably on Bryan’sp, I couldn’t hide my awkwardness. I frowned and huffed, “Let me go. I can’t eat breakfast like this.”
Bryan hesitated, a flicker of reluctance shing across his face, but he finally loosened his hold. The moment he released me, I sprang to my feet, eager to put some space between us. But Bryan caught my hand, his fingers firm yet gentle, guiding me to the seat beside him.
I wasn’t keen on being that close, so I tried to pull my hand free, but his grip only tightened. Frustrated and desperate to know about Jett, I gave up fighting it and sat down begrudgingly, eating my breakfast with a stone-cold expression.
Bryan was trying too hard, hovering like a mother hen. He poured me a steaming cup of milk, offered me fruit here and there, and even tried to feed me as if I were a child. Annoyed, I waved away his attempts with a curt refusal.
Quickly finishing my breakfast, I set my cup down, frustration bubbling over, and shot Bryan a sharp look. “So, did you catch him or not?”
Bryan’s face darkened, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “What if we did?”
I shot out of my chair like a spring, my eyes burning with fury. “What are you going to do? Kill him?”
His expression twisted further, like a storm about to break. He leaned in, his voice dropping low. “Is he really that important to you?”
I wasn’t in the mood to argue anymore, so I headed straight for the door of the vi. Bryan moved swiftly, stepping forward and grabbing my arm.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
I red at him, every bit as determined as I felt. “I’m going to save him!”
Bryan stared at me as if I’d lost my mind. “Are you serious? How do you n on saving him by yourself? And don’t forget, he’s a wizard. The wizards have been at odds with the werewolves forever. He’s dangerous! He could get you killed!”
Even though I had my doubts about Jett’s true nature, I trusted him—he’d never hurt me.
I shook off Bryan’s grip, my voice rising in anger. “I’m a white wolf! And I’m at odds with the Lycan royal family! Does that mean you’re going to kill me next?”
Bryan froze, his face a mask of shock at my words.
Just then, Dominic’s voice rang out from behind me, steady and clear. “Is this coldness toward us because you’re a white wolf?”
Dominic and yton stepped into view, walking toward me. yton stopped at my side, his golden eyes soft and reassuring. “If it’s about your identity, don’t worry. We’ll keep it under wraps. No one will know.”
