?Chapter 758:
Makenna’s POV:
When I woke up, darkness had already fallen, casting long shadows across the room.
My body felt heavy, and a sluggish fog clouded my thoughts as I sat up, groaning softly. I poured myself a ss of water and downed it in one go, the cool liquid jolting me into a semnce of alertness.
As rity returned, my mind drifted to yton and the events earlier that day. A knot of confusion and disappointment twisted in my chest.
He’d once been the epitome of charm and refinement, a man who always respected my boundaries. But today? His rash behavior waspletely out of character, as if he’d morphed into someone unrecognizable. The thought left me with an aching sense of loss. Still, I shook it off, reminding myself with bitter resolve that who they were now had nothing to do with me. Forcing a dry smile, I ced the empty ss on the table.
That was when a soft knock broke the silence.
“Miss Dunn, dinner is ready. Pleasee downstairs,” a maid announced from the other side of the door, her voice polite and measured.
A flicker of surprise crossed my face. “Hasn’t my food been brought to my room these past few days? Why the sudden change?”
“Your health has improved significantly, Miss Dunn,” the maid replied. “Starting today, meals will be served downstairs.”
I hesitated but didn’t press further. Shaking off the remnants of sleep, I dressed quickly and trudged downstairs, still feeling a dull weight in my limbs.
As I stepped into the dining room, my eyes were immediately drawn to the three men seated at the table. Their once-stern faces softened the moment they saw me, smiles spreading as if on cue.
Bryan was the first to rise, his voice warm and inviting.
???????? ???????? ?????????? ???????????????? ???? g????????ν??????.??????
“Makenna,e sit. We’ve prepared all your favorites tonight.”
His words, instead offorting me, triggered a wave of anger. My face darkened, and indignation red up inside me.
How could they wear those shameless smiles after everything?
Without a second thought, I turned on my heel, intent on leaving, but found the dining room door firmly shut.
“What exactly do you want from me?” I snapped, my voice…
Laced with irritation, I turned to face them. yton’s smile remained intact, though it now seemed more like a mask than a genuine expression.
“We mean no harm,” he said, his tone dripping with forced sincerity. “We just want to share a meal with you.”
Bryan gestured toward the tableden with dishes, his voice almost coaxing. “Look, we’ve gone out of our way to make your favorites. You’ve been looking so frailtely; you need to eat and regain your strength.”
I stood my ground, unmoving and unimpressed. Dominic, however, wasn’t having any of it. He strode toward me, grabbed my arm before I could protest, and guided me to a seat at the table with an ease that left no room for resistance.
My gaze swept over the feast before me, cold and unmoved. “Cut to the chase,” I said, my voice sharp as a de. “What are you really after? Stop dancing around the issue.”
The tension in the room shifted, their smiles faltering under the weight of my words.
yton sighed, his expression tinged with sorrow as if he were carrying the weight of the world. “We used to have meals like this all the time. Have you truly forgotten those moments of joy we shared?”
