?Chapter 759:
His words barely registered. I didn’t even look his way as I replied, my tone icy, “That was another lifetime. What’s gone is gone, and there’s no bringing it back. Dragging up the past serves no purpose.”
Bryan’s patience, it seemed, had finally reached its limit. A flicker of irritation crossed his face as he rubbed his temples and raised his voice ever so slightly. “Can’t we just have a normal, calm conversation for once?”
Makenna’s POV:
I chuckled bitterly and asked, “A calm conversation? Did it ever cross your mind for a second to have a proper talk with me back then?”
The three of them exchanged uneasy, guilt-filled nces but said nothing in their defense.
The atmosphere in the room was suffocatingly tense.
Unable to stand being near them for even a second more, I turned and walked away.
However, before I could go far, Dominic reached out and caught me by the wrist. Startled, I tried to pull away, but then I heard him murmur, “Makenna, I’m sorry.” Dominic actually apologized to me!
This unexpected apology left me frozen in shock.
He continued, the regret in his voice audible, “When we saw what happened in the warehouse, wepletely lost our cool. When weter found no trace of an aphrodisiac in your system, we further misunderstood the situation and let our emotions get the better of us. If you’re willing, we’d like you to tell us what really happened back then.”
I looked down at Dominic’s hand gripping my wrist as many emotions, too many to name, swirled within me.
The bond and trust we had once shared had now been destroyed. However, the sincere looks on their faces left me feeling even more conflicted.
?????????????? ????????????? ???????? ???????????????? ???? ?????????ν??????.??????
Finally, I took a deep breath and yanked my wrist from Dominic’s grasp. “It’s toote for this,” I coldly said.
Dominic stared at me, disbelief written all over his face. “Why? Makenna, why?” he asked.
yton, in a voice choked with sorrow, said, “If it’s because of my earlier actions, then I’m sorry. I’ll do anything to earn your forgiveness, but please don’t shut the door of reconciliation on us.”
Bryan said, “Is it because of Evelyn? If it’s because of her, we can send her away from the pce and cut ties with her.”
At that moment, the pain I felt was like a vice tightly…
Squeezing my heart, I gritted my teeth and said, “It’s because I hate you all. I despise you all. I have no intention of exining anything to anybody anymore!” I then proceeded to re at each of them as though they were strangers who meant nothing to me.
The three of them stood frozen, utterly stunned by my words.
Fearing my resolve might waver, I continued, “I don’t want to talk about what happened in the warehouse anymore. I refuse to exin to you what happened. What you choose to think is no longer my business. Right now, I wish I had never met any of you!”
With that, I turned toward the dining room door and made to open it.
In that instant, pain shot through my wrist as someone forcefully grabbed it.
I turned to see Dominic, who usually had a calm demeanor, with an almost unhinged expression. “Take back what you just said!” he screamed at me.
