?Chapter 1062:
“What are you doing, Daniel?” Susanna asked unhappily as soon as they stepped outside. She had nned to stay with Ellie!
Ellie couldn’t see at the moment. How lonely must it be for her alone? “Did you not see Kaidene back? Are you nning to bother them?” Daniel lightly tapped her forehead.
He didn’t mention that Kaiden was pretending to be a cook in front of Ellie. Susanna wasn’t skilled at acting andcked the mental toughness. If she knew the truth, Daniel worried she might let it slip.
Susanna thought Daniel had a point. “But why didn’t you let me greet him? It would be rude not to!”
Daniel gave her a skeptical look and said, “You want to greet Kaiden? Do you think he’ll even talk to you?”
Susanna was left speechless. No, Kaiden probably wouldn’t.
Daniel sighed. The next time he brought Susanna to see Ellie, he would need to steer clear of Kaiden.
After eating the spicy diced chicken, Ellie frowned slightly. “What’s the matter?” Kaiden asked.
Ellie said honestly, “The chicken is a bit overcooked.” Kaiden didn’t know how to respond.
June tried hard not tough. She had just told Kaiden that she could cook for Ellie.
The real reason Glenn asked her to cook was that he feared Kaiden’s food might be too awful.
Kaiden red at June, causing the smile on her face to freeze.
Ellie, however, didn’t think much of it. Even though the chicken was a bit overcooked, the boiled pork slices weren’t great, and the fried vegetables were somewhat dry, they were still edible. It was a far cry from the terrible food she cooked herself!
“What’s your name? I don’t know your name yet,” Ellie asked.
Kaiden paused for a moment, caught off guard by her sudden question.
After a beat, he replied, “Ayden Thornton.”

He held his breath and nervously watched Ellie. His heart raced, wondering if she might figure out who he was. Part of him hoped she would—maybe that would mean she cared for him after all. But then again, if she did recognize him, would she just throw him out?
After Kaiden shared his alias with Ellie, he anxiously awaited her reaction.
“Ayden Thornton?” Ellie murmured. Despite the name sparking a sense of familiarity, she couldn’t quite pinpoint where she had heard it before. She called out, “Mr. Thornton.”
Kaiden’s expression hardened slightly. He felt a bit disappointed that Ellie didn’t recognize him. He replied, “Yes, what can I do for you?”
Ellie inquired, “May and June refer to me as ‘ma’am.’ Mr. Thornton, why don’t you use that title?”
Kaiden pressed his lips together and remained silent. He was ufortable using such a formal title for Ellie.
Ellie offered, “You can call me ‘ma’am,’ like they do, or ‘Miss Gordon’ if you prefer.”
Kaiden stared into her eyes with such intensity that it felt like he could consume her whole.
“Can I call you Mrs. Thorpe?” he asked. “I recall your husband’sst name is Thorpe.”
Both May and June nced at Kaiden, surprised that he would suddenly bring himself into the conversation. They thought he was always trying to assert his dominance.
