Chapter 1049

    ?Chapter 1049:

Since Ellie refused to cooperate with the treatment, Kaiden decided to halt the treatment of Carole’s right eye in order to keep her as an experimental subject for Ellie. However, Carole, having overheard the medical team discussing Ellie’s eye problem, realized she was being used. In a desperate act of defiance, she gruesomely pierced her own eye with a fork. Eye removal was the final oue for Carole’s right eye.

Kaiden sat by the bed, holding Ellie’s right hand with both of his, his forehead resting gently on her hand. He was consumed by a profound sense of guilt and pain.

“El, I… I’m sorry. Her right eye should have been an experimental subject for you. I wanted to save her eye, but I didn’t expect… I missed your call. I’m sorry.” Ellie touched her eyes with her left hand.

“Don’t move. You’re on an IV,” Kaiden gently cautioned, guiding her hand back down. “Are your eyes causing you difort? Should I call the doctor?”

    “No.”

Ellie’s voice was unsettlingly calm, her lips curving into a slight, serene smile. “Kaiden, do you really care about my eyes that much? Are you that concerned about whether I be blind?”

Then, with a deliberate motion, Ellie withdrew her hand from his, pulling ab report from beneath the pillow. “You even went so far as to put mifepristone in my cakes!”

Kaiden froze, his heart skipping a beat as he took theb report and scrutinized it more closely.

The mifepristone content in the saffron cakes was minimal, but if it umted to a certain level, it could cause a miscarriage. Ellie had discovered it just in time to save their unborn child.

“Kaiden, do you have anything to exin? The cakes were bought by you, and once they arrived at Moon Manor, no one else had a chance to put the mifepristone in them.”

No one else would dare do that except Kaiden.

Her voice filled the sterile room. Ellie couldn’t see his reaction, but she felt a deep sorrow.

“All the other cakes at home are fine. It’s only the newly opened box this week that contained mifepristone.”

“Kaiden, I called you several times when I first felt the stomach pain, but I couldn’t reach you,” Ellie continued. “I was scared—not because I couldn’t see, but because the thunder felt like a nightmare… I was afraid something would happen to our baby. I was afraid I couldn’t protect him, afraid that we’d still lose him despite my efforts. I was afraid you’d be disappointed and heartbroken. But in the end…”

Ellieughed bitterly, the soundced with sadness, as tears streamed down her face uncontrobly.

“It turns out you don’t want this baby! Kaiden, if you didn’t want him, why didn’t you take precautions from the start? Our baby is already growing in my belly. He already has a heartbeat, hears sounds, and can move!”

“El!” Kaiden cried out, his voice breaking. He rushed to kiss away her tears, desperate to soothe her. Ellie let him, too tired of fighting, too exhausted to resist.

Her indifference, a quiet resignation, made Kaiden even more anxious.

“El, I did tamper with one box of the cake, but that box has already been thrown out,” Kaiden admitted.

After giving his exnation, he contacted Cayson to inquire about the origin of the cake box.

“Mr. Thorpe, the kitchen crew thought they had identally thrown it out and retrieved it…”
