?Chapter 937:
“She’s outside the door.”
When Theo said this, his expression was searching, as if he was silently questioning, “Why are you involved with her again?”
Initially, Levy hadn’t intended to bring it up, but he recalled Flossie’s praises of Theo and their shared academic pursuits. For no apparent reason, he blurted out, “The person I rescued was Flossie.”
After a brief pause, Theo smiled as though he had just realized something. With the doctor’s assistance, Levy managed to turn over and asked with effort, “What’s so funny?”
“I was surprised to hear that you had saved someone. But it makes sense when the one you saved is Flossie. People always call you adies’ man, but I know you’ve never been involved with girls from respectable families,” Theo remarked.
After a pause, Theo nced at the closed door and added, “She’s the only exception out there.”
Ignoring Theo’s teasing, Levy queried, “What is she doing outside?”
Observing Levy sweating from pain in bed, and then casting a nce at the stern doctor nearby, Theo advised, “Mate, be a good patient. The doctor looks like he’s ready to pounce on us!” The attending doctor nodded brusquely.
That was true. Doctors despised disobedient patients the most.
The door to the consulting room swung open. Theo emerged in a white coat. Almost immediately, Flossie rose and anxiously inquired, “Dr. Stephens, how is Levy?”
“Well…” Theo sighed heavily and shook his head.
When Flossie saw this, her face paled. Tears filled her eyes, causing her eyshes to tremble. She fought back the urge to cry.
“How… How’s he doing?” she asked.
Theo sighed deeply and shook his head once more.

These gestures almost conveyed that Levy’s condition was dire and she needed to prepare for the worst.
“He got injured trying to save me…” Flossie sobbed, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Witnessing her tears, Theo felt a surge of panic. “Hey, please don’t cry! It’s not such a big deal. He’s not disabled or anything. He just needs surgery! If you keep crying, what if Ellie thinks I’m picking on you?”
Everyone knew Ellie always stood up for her family and friends!
Her tears halted. Flossie looked both pitiful and endearing.
“I’m sorry. I often tease my brother, but I shouldn’t have done the same to you,” Theo said helplessly.
“It’s okay.” Feeling a bit embarrassed herself, Flossie wiped her tears and managed a smile. “I guess I can’t take a joke.”
Theo was amused. He found Flossie quite humorous.
When Levy emerged from the consulting room, Flossie and Theo were deep in conversation about developing new drugs for rare diseases.
