    Before Ellie coulde up with an excuse, Baylee saw through her, saying, “You don’t want to go home? Why?” Ellie was speechless. Why would her best friend call her out like that?


    “I guess I’ll receive a scolding from Kaiden when we return,” Ellie sighed.


    Baylee nced at Ellie’s belly and remarked, “You should be scolded for fighting while pregnant.”


    “What? Who was I even fighting for? You didn’t stop me,” Ellie retorted.


    “Then I can’t take you shopping. I’ll be the one in trouble with Kaiden! Just go home after dinner!” Baylee insisted.


    Ellie was left speechless. Was this really her best friend?


    As Baylee mentioned, she bid Ellie farewell after dinner. Before leaving, she gave Ellie a yful wink.


    On the way home, Kaiden was immersed in work in the car. He had hurried to the party’s venue, leaving a stack of important documents at the office that required his attention. The closer Ellie got to home, the more anxious she became.


    She nned to go straight to bed and feign sleep after quickly freshening up, knowing Kaiden had a meeting in his study. However, when she opened the bathroom door, Kaiden was standing there.


    “Well… Have you finished your work?” Ellie forced a smile.


    “Not yet,” he replied tersely.


    “Then you can go ahead…”


    “No rush.”


    Ellie headed towards the bed. After taking just a couple of steps, Kaiden grabbed her by the back of her cor.


    Ellie sighed and closed her eyes. The inevitable confrontation she couldn’t avoid had finally arrived.

    “Shouldn’t we talk?” Kaiden gazed at Ellie.


    Turning to face him, Ellie said innocently, “Kaiden, I thought we had moved on from this.”


    Kaiden spoke seriously. “I’m someone who holds grudges. I still remember you calling me a damned man.” He couldn’t get it out of his mind.


    “Today’s incident was an ident. I promise it won’t happen again!” Ellie uttered.


    Kaiden felt his shirt hem being pulled. ncing down, he saw Ellie delicately tugging at his shirt, pulling a bit of the hem that had been tucked into his pants. She was trying to appease him.


    In the past, he would have slept with her, making sure she learned from what had urred earlier that day. Yet, he couldn’t do that to her now that she was pregnant.


    “You’re a little liar. This isn’t the first time you’ve behaved like this,” Kaiden said coldly as he forcefully removed Ellie’s hand.


    “Well then, what do you want from me?” Ellie lifted her head and challenged him, confident that he couldn’t harm her.
