?Chapter 892:
“Is it still hurting?” Marvin inquired.
Baylee nodded and gazed up at him with a pitiful expression, looking as meek as a deer. She didn’t bother hiding her amateur acting; it was as if she wanted him to know that she was feigning it. Though she was genuinely in pain, she didn’t want Marvin to worry excessively.
Looking down at her, Marvin murmured gently, “You brought this upon yourself.”
Baylee was taken aback.
She sat up slowly, staring at him silently, as if challenging his statement and wanting him to reconsider.
cing his hand on her head, Marvin said, “Next time, try not to act impulsively.”
“Are you saying I acted on impulse to fight Aphrodite or to impulsively take the hit for Ellie?”
Given the profound friendship between Baylee and Ellie, Marvin didn’t dare to say that he meant thetter.
“There are better ways to resolve conflicts. Violence isn’t necessary,” Marvin advised. “Baylee, you should not have let yourself get hurt.”
Seeing his concern for her, Baylee fell silent and noddedpliantly.
Suddenly, Aphrodite’s words echoed in her mind.
“Do you really think Marvin cares about you? You’re just a pawn in his game against Quincy.”
Baylee chuckled dismissively and didn’t take it seriously. Given Aphrodite’s nature, it was typical of her to say something like that to provoke Baylee.
Kaiden escorted Ellie to the nearby obstetrics department for her examination. Her checkup was moreplex than Baylee’s. Ellie had been worried about Baylee’s back wound, but Baylee finished her checkup before Ellie did, leading to her having to wait for Ellie.
“Is the baby okay?” Baylee asked, touching Ellie’s belly.

“It’s okay.” Ellie nced at Kaiden and told Baylee, “I said I’m fine. He’s the one making a big deal out of it.”
Pregnant women weren’t as fragile as rumors suggested. Many carried on shopping and working normally throughout their nine months. As soon as Ellie finished speaking, she sensed a chilly gaze directed at her. Kaiden looked at her calmly.
Ellie had a feeling he was going to reprimand herter…
That evening, the four of them dined together. Kaiden and Marvin received calls from their respectivepanies, causing them both to leave the room.
Noticing Ellie’s distracted demeanor, Baylee asked, “You don’t like the food here? Or is the baby causing trouble again?”
“No,” Ellie replied. Kaiden had ordered these dishes based on what she wanted. “How about going out for a walk after dinner? Maybe do some shopping?”
“You never used to like shopping,” Baylee remarked, surprised. Before, Ellie would have clothes sent from designers to her hotel, and then she’d select them herself. She considered shopping a waste of time.
