?Chapter 853:
Suddenly, Ellie stopped mid-sentence and looked past Kaiden. A middle-aged man was approaching quickly, nked by two bodyguards and followed by Kristopher’s doctor, who seemed exhausted. The doctor was briefing the man as they walked.
The man bore a striking resemnce to Kristopher. “Are you…”
Ellie was about to inquire if he was Kristopher’s father when he shot her a sharp look.
Kaiden immediately stepped in front of Ellie, meeting the man’s gaze head-on. “Well… Mr. Wright, that’s all regarding your son’s condition,” the doctor concluded his report.
Peering through the small window, Bolton cast a quick nce at Kristopher in the hospital room before turning his gaze back to Ellie. “You are responsible for his suffering!” he used.
Ellie’s face went white, and she clenched her fingers tightly, but she managed to regain herposure quickly.
“Are you Kristopher’s dad? I’m really sorry for the trouble Kristopher’s been caught up in because of me.”
Bolton stared at Ellie with eyes as sharp as a de, seeming to look right through her.
Taking offense, Kaiden moved to stand in front of Ellie, shielding her. “Mr. Wright, I’ll cover the costs for your son’s medical care. My wife is a victim in all of this too,” he said, hoping to prevent Bolton from losing his temper.
“A victim?” Bolton scoffed, as if he’d heard a joke. This only made Ellie feel worse.
“Mr. Wright, I might owe your son, but I certainly don’t owe you. In fact, you took me from the Lambert family, and we still haven’t settled that score with you!” Ellie retorted, after taking a moment.
Bolton paused before asking, “Did he tell you everything?”
“Yes,” Ellie responded.
“Did he ever mention that his heart condition was your fault?”

“Um, what?”
Ellie’s shock was evident, and it was clear to Bolton that his son had left out some critical details.
Bolton hissed, “Elsie, it’s your fever that led to your driver speeding and crashing into my wife’s car. My wife died instantly, and my son was gravely injured. Kristopher lost his mother and his health at such a young age because of you. You’re to me, Elsie. You deserve to die!”
Ellie, looking pale, stumbled backward.
Baylee, shocked, looked at Bolton in disbelief.
Kaiden quickly wrapped his arms around Ellie, nting a kiss on her temple tofort her. “El, let’s wait to talk about this until Glenn is here.” They couldn’t take Bolton’s word as the whole truth.
“Kristopher… He never mentioned that,” Ellie said, feeling deep down that Bolton wasn’t lying to her.
“He wouldn’t have told you!” Bolton expressed his disappointment. “He didn’t tell you that when you were seven, he found you outside the amusement park. Because he gave you his raincoat, his fever spiked, leading to a serious re-up of his heart condition. He nearly died!”
