Chapter 851

    ?Chapter 851:

Medical advances had made it easier for Carole to remove her burn scars.

Kaiden remained silent, his expression seemingly conveying, “You heard the nurse’s words yourself; you should now rest assured in your recovery.” He offered no verbal assurance to Carole, his stance frosty, his distance clear.

“I long to be home, surrounded by my family, friends, and…” Carole’s voice trailed off, the word “you” hanging in the air, unspoken yet heavily implied as she fixed her hopeful gaze on Kaiden.

“I’m not the one to make that call,” Kaiden replied. “It’s something I need to talk over with Ellie.”

“Understood!” Carole’s cheerful voice chimed, a stark contrast to the tension in her fingers as they clutched the fabric beneath the quilt. The idea of him consulting Ellie upset her. Her sacrifice had been immense. She had acted against her initial n and saved Ellie and the unborn child, yet she was still sidelined, needing Ellie’s approval for her next move.

Carole had been aware all along—it was Ellie and Kristopher in the car. Lurking outside the vi where Ellie had been staying, she had intended to ambush Kaiden, not anticipating Kristopher’s presence. When Litzy’s madness erupted with intentions to harm Ellie, Carole initially reveled in the potential disaster.

Yet, the realization struck like lightning: Kristopher’s car was a fortress on wheels, designed to withstand the worst. Moreover, with Kristopher’s protection for Ellie, her fate was not sealed. Carole pondered that if only Ellie’s unborn child were dead, it would do her no good. As long as Ellie was still alive, she could always conceive another child.

Thus, in a swift turnabout, Carole shifted gears. By ying the savior, she positioned herself as Ellie’s guardian angel, a cunning move in her grand design.

Kristopher’s injuries were much worse than Carole’s. Outside his hospital room, Ellie and Baylee peeked through the small window. They saw Kristopher lying on the bed, connected to various tubes and monitors, looking extremely frail, as if he could vanish at any moment.

“Ellie, the attempt to save Litzy didn’t work. She’s gone,” Baylee finally broke the silence.

After the car ident, Litzy was barely clinging to life. “She should consider herself fortunate. Her death saved her from imprisonment for her deeds,” Elliemented coldly.

For someone who always ced a high value on life, Ellie’s harsh words made it clear to Baylee that she was deeply affected by the situation. But in Ellie’s eyes, death was too lenient for Litzy. Had Litzy lived, either Ellie, Kaiden, or the Lambert family would have made sure her life became unbearable.

At the same time, the Lambert siblings were rushing to Parasti after hearing what had happened.

“Why would Litzy target Ellie out of the blue?” Glenn pondered. He was always one to look beneath the surface, suspecting there was more to the story. He believed Litzy might have been manipted, merely a pawn in someone else’s game.

“So far, I haven’t found any evidence that Litzy was recently involved with anyone suspicious.” Hearing this, Katharine remarked, “Houston’s got a new woman in his life. Litzy was actually hunting for proof of Houston’s cheating during her recent outings.”
