?Chapter 806:
Omiros grabbed a quick twenty-minute nap at the hotel before darting back to the exam hall.
Tension lingered in the air as Ellie and Kaiden focused on their respective work.
After Omirospleted today’s exams, they all returned to Moon Manor together.
After her shower, Ellie settled onto the bed to wrap up some work.
The door only creaked open after she switched off the light and settled under the covers.
As the nket was pulled back, Kaiden’s damp figure joined her in bed, prompting her to bolt upright.
Kaiden eyed Ellie and asked, “Aren’t you supposed to be asleep?”
His tone implied he wondered why she hadn’t pretended to be asleep as she might have done on other nights.
With the room dimmed, Ellie could only make out his silhouette.
“I assumed you’d crash in the study tonight,” she retorted with a huff.
Kaiden propped himself against the headboard, his silence looming in the dark room.
Without waiting for him to respond, Ellie continued, “Look, I’ve said sorry. I won’t lie or hide anything from you over Kristopher again, but I can’t just snub him without reason. It’s only normal socializing.”
Ellie wanted to discover the deeper connection Kristopher shared with her.
Kaiden’s frown deepened. He was hoping to hear an assurance of no further contact with Kristopher.
Gazing at Ellie, he grasped her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“Are you bargaining with me, Ellie?”
“No, I’m trying to reason with you,” she replied.

Kaiden let out a snort at Ellie’s words. She was reasoning with him?
It was just smooth talking.
He pulled out his phone and showed Ellie some messages.
They were all from Carole.
She sent messages nearly every day, about the small, everyday things. Sometimes, she shared exciting encounters from her day, and other times, the challenges she faced.
