Chapter 773

    ?Chapter 773:

Understanding the Thorpe family’s dynamics made it clear why Leo had ended up with such severe depression.

    “Wait a minute.”

Suddenly, Ellie had a realization and leaped out of bed.

Shortly after, she returned with an envelope in hand.

“Omiros left this for you. He wanted to wait around until you were done with work, but he had an exam tonight, set up by his family’s tutor,” she exined.

Kaiden quickly opened the envelope to find a piece of paper with arge smiley face doodled on it. It was a simple drawing.

Seeing the note, Kaiden couldn’t help but smile. He carefully folded the paper and tucked it away in his drawer. Despite his apparent disapproval of Omiros, it was clear that Kaiden held him in high regard.

“Carole dropped this bombshell out of nowhere. Did you manage to meet up with her?” Ellie asked, her voice tinged with wariness.

“I haven’t been in touch with her,” Kaiden replied.

Hearing this, Ellie let out a sigh of relief.

Then why would Carole do such a thing?

Lost in thought, Ellie was startled when Kaiden’s phone suddenly began to ring.

Carole’s name shed on the screen.

    Kaiden nced at Ellie, uncertain.

“Go ahead, answer it,” she said.

Ellie reached out to press the answer button, then, making a point, put the call on speaker before shooting Kaiden a meaningful look.

Kaiden was at a loss for words.

It was Ellie who had urged him to take the call, and now she was the one giving him that intense stare.

“Kaiden, are you alright?” Carole’s voice sounded through the phone. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier that Leo was dealing with depression. I had promised him I’d keep it a secret. This time… I couldn’t stand the thought of you being wronged again.”

Despite the waiting and the frustration of not hearing from Kaiden, Carole had eventually lost her patience and decided to call him first.

“She’s concerned about you,” Ellie whispered to Kaiden, her voice dripping with irony.

Catching onto her tone, Kaiden leaned in and kissed Ellie gently.

Ellie covered her mouth, shooting him a stern look.

“Alright, I got it,” Kaiden finally responded to Carole, acknowledging her concern. Carole fidgeted nervously with her fingers, shocked that Kaiden’s only response was his acknowledgment. Was that all he had to say?

“You… Never mind. Kaiden, I just want you to be happy. I’m managing fine here abroad, even though it gets lonely at times,” Carole said.
