Chapter 766

    ?Chapter 766:

“But I can’t stand the thought of anything happening to you.”

“See, it’s already getting better,” Ellie reassured him. She shifted her ankle slightly, feeling a slight sting, but kept her difort hidden.

Kaiden stood, kissed the edge of her lips, and couldn’t help but ruffle her hair a bit.

    “I’m not ming you.”

In reality, he was ming himself.

Kaiden hadn’t thought the incident would affect Ellie so deeply. At first, he thought to just brush it off.

But now, Kaiden saw things differently.

Suddenly, Ellie pulled back, scooting away on the couch to avoid his touch. “You just touched the shoes, socks, foot, and now my hair!” she eximed, looking repulsed.

Kaiden chuckled. “But Ellie, they’re your shoes, socks, and foot.”

Holding her hair protectively, Ellie retorted, “Even so, it’s not okay!”

Realizing there were no cold packs or sprain medicine at home and still concerned for Ellie’s ankle, Kaiden went out to get some.

As soon as he left, the room fell into silence.

Ellie checked her phone, overwhelmed by the flood of news about Kaiden.

    “Why hasn’t Kaiden responded yet?”

“If he stays silent, it confirms it. He fears that denial will backfire!”

“If Ellie doesn’t leave him now, she’s blindly in love. No one respects a woman blinded by love!”

“iming mental issues after killing someone is just an escape from thew!”

“Kaiden killed his own brother! That’s monstrous!”

“Kaiden probably thinks, with his brother gone, he’s the sole heir to the Thorpe fortune. What a chilling thought!”

Ellie was seething with anger. She silently cursed the ridiculousments. Memories of the reporters’ aggressive demeanor and their sharp questions flooded her mind.

Her beloved didn’t deserve to endure such scrutiny.

The sorrow of his youth and his parents’ neglect were burdens enough. As she calmed down from the turmoil, Ellie found herself reaching out to Carole.

Once connected, she wasted no time, inquiring, “Are you aware of the real reason behind Leo’s death?”

Carole’s response was calm, as if she expected Ellie’s call. “Ellie, I have something that could clear Kaiden’s name. Currently, I might be the only person with proof.”

Ellie’s heart skipped a beat. “What do you want in return?”

    “Leave Kaiden alone.”

If there had been a mirror in front of Ellie at that moment, she would have seen a face devoid of expression.
