    “Kaiden, since when have you and Marvin been so close?”


    “I figured as much,” Kaiden said. “Marvin’s gaining more influence in the Hill family, and people are keen to match him with potential brides.”


    There were rumors that Marvin might not be interested in women, hinting at a secret condition or doubts about his sexual orientation. These rumors clung more stubbornly than those about Kaiden, who had once pretended to have a disability. If Marvin was serious about marrying Baylee, it was time he introduced her to everyone.


    “Marvin wants to introduce Baylee to the public?” Ellie inquired.


    “Absolutely,” Kaiden confirmed, making Ellie realize that Baylee must’ve consented to apany Marvin. Otherwise, Marvin wouldn’t have sent her an invite on his own, which also exined his recent cheerful demeanor. It appeared that Baylee was genuinely considering giving Marvin a chance to be her boyfriend.


    “What are you thinking about so hard?” Kaiden asked, gently easing the crease in Ellie’s forehead with his fingertip. He hated to see her worrying. He was there to take on her concerns.


    “If Marvin brings Baylee as his date, she’ll be trapped…” Ellie voiced her concerns with a furrowed brow.


    “Ellie, if anyone’s trapped, it’s Marvin.”
