Chapter 681

    ?Chapter 681:

Marvin hastened inside, helping Baylee up. He gently inquired, “Do you need water? Or perhaps your phone?”

Baylee, puzzled by Marvin’s sudden presence, met his gaze. The man’s eyes sparkled with urgency and relief upon seeing her wake up. In his eyes, she saw a reflection of herself, momentarily the sole focus of his world.

“Marvin… Why is he here?” she questioned, surprised by his presence after what she assumed were many days of unconsciousness.

“I was worried about you. Do you feel ufortable anywhere?” Marvin asked.

“My foot and calf hurt a lot,” Baylee sighed.

Marvin’s proximity felt overwhelming, prompting Baylee to instinctively want to push him away, but Ellie’s worried nce made her hesitate.

“It’s likely the aftermath of the snake bite. The doctor mentioned that pain in the wound is normal,” Ellie tried to reassure her, catching Baylee’s anxious signals and subtly nudging Kaiden. “Kaiden, why don’t you and Marvin go grab some dinner for Baylee and me?”

Reluctance flickered across Kaiden’s handsome features. He preferred to purchase dinner with Ellie rather than with Marvin!

Marvin, after adjusting the hospital bed for Baylee’sfort, stepped back. “I’ll give you space, can you please not push me away?”

Baylee, caught off guard by his insight into her thoughts, awkwardly fidgeted with her hair.

“Baylee, we found you on the southern part of the ind, near the rocks. Why did you go there?” Ellie sat down, shifting the conversation to a more serious tone.

“I received a message from Quincy iming to have information about my leg injury from years ago. He urged me to head south,” Baylee shared, her expression turning notably cold.

Hearing Quincy’s name made Marvin frown. “He… Wasn’t it obvious that there was something wrong with that message?”

    ?@???? ??@t?è?? íń ??????????????????.??????

Ellie struggled to find the right words. “It was suspicious,” Baylee concurred, her gaze meeting Ellie’s. “But Ellie, the mystery surrounding my leg injury has haunted me for years. I suspected Aphrodite, but Icked evidence. I thought… perhaps Quincy had a change of heart. How foolish of me!”

At her words, a cold chill shadowed Marvin’s eyes.

Baylee’s previous ident involved a fall down a hill, resulting in cuts from discarded ss and des. The injuries damaged her muscles and ligaments severely, nearly disabling her leg in the process. Was it not an ident?

Baylee continued, “I discovered a box on the rocks, and unexpectedly, snakes swarmed from all directions as I approached. The box was nowhere to be found by the time Ellie and the others arrived, likely swept away by the strong currents.”

Ellie quickly identified a discrepancy. “How could Quincy have known you were on the ind? Even if he was aware of the filming, he couldn’t have known the ind’syout.”

Baylee’s fingers toyed with the bedsheet. “If not Quincy, then another suspectes to mind. Aphrodite! She once used Quincy’s phone to call and warn me.” It was clear Aphrodite had ess to Quincy’s phone.
