Chapter 582

    ?Chapter 582:

“Mom, I… I fell and went to the hospital to get checked, and… the doctor says I’m not pregnant. How is this possible? Why am I not expecting a baby? What am I supposed to do now?”

She had ced all her hopes on the child she thought she was carrying. And now, she was informed that there was simply nothing to be found.

Litzy tried to calm her down. “My dear, don’t worry. I knew you weren’t pregnant. We made up that story to gain the Thorpe family’s confidence. I didn’t tell you so you wouldn’t identally reveal our secret,” she exined gently.

Demi quickly realized that her mother had orchestrated everything, including the false pregnancy report.

“So… what do we do now? The Thorpe family was eagerly anticipating the arrival of their supposed great-grandson.”

“I’ve got an idea. How about inviting Ellie to your grandma’s funeral tomorrow?”

In the master bedroom, Kaiden held Ellie close, his hand gently patting her back in a soothing rhythm, much like one wouldfort a child. Ellie could feel his efforts to calm her. His words kept echoing in her ears.

“None of that is important. Ellie, I love you. I love you. Do you hear me?”

    “I hear you.”

How could she not? His words were gentle yet powerful.

Ellie had doubted she could find rest that night, but the warmth of his embrace brought her temporary peace, pushing her worries away as she drifted off to sleep.

Soon, Kaiden felt that the woman he held in his arms was breathing steadily, deeply asleep. He gently moved back to gaze at the face nestled in his arm. Her features were as soft as ever, but now shaded with a touch of vulnerability. The panic that gripped his heart at the sight of her tears was known only to him.

All he managed to do was awkwardly dere his love for her over and over again.

She insisted she had never felt loved by “them.”

Those “them.” What right did they have to hold a ce in his woman’s heart?

    The night passed peacefully.

When Ellie woke up, she found herself lying against Kaiden’s chest. His habit of sleeping shirtless revealed his toned chest muscles, making her cheeks warm and her heart beat faster.

“You’re up? Want to keep sleeping?” Kaiden asked, looking down at her.

Their sleeping patterns didn’t match. Ellie liked to sleepte, while Kaiden was up with the dawn. Waking up beside him was something special.

This gentle moment confused Ellie at first but soon filled her with happiness.

“No, I’m good. It’s already eight,” Ellie observed, realizing the time.

“Haven’t you gone to work yet?”

“I decided to take today off.”

Ellie yfully teased, “Kaiden, it seems you’re frequently taking days off these days.”
