Chapter 583

    ?Chapter 583:

“Why have the title of boss if I can’t enjoy a day off now and then?” Kaiden moved closer and nted a kiss on Ellie’s forehead. “Being with my woman matters more to me than work.” Ellie felt the lingering sensation of his kiss on her forehead.

She felt deeply loved in that moment. Recalling Kaiden’s tender care from the previous night made her smile, and she leaned in for a morning kiss.

Feeling reassured about Ellie’s emotional well-being, Kaiden then headed to the office.

But the moment he left, Ellie’s face fell. Kaiden’sforting presence had eased the pain of losing Cecelia. Yet, the mystery of “that man” Cecelia had mentioned still nagged at her.

The investigation by Houston and Litzy revealed that the Gordon family’s nanny had switched Demi for another baby in revenge. But if Demi had truly been abandoned, why did someone approach Cecelia about her more than ten years ago?

And why did “that man” choose to stay in the shadows, helping her through Cecelia’s involvement?

Ellie was puzzled, and her thoughts were interrupted by a call from Houston. He was calling to invite her to Cecelia’s funeral.

Since Ellie had left soon after paying her respects the previous day, she had not nned to go to the funeral. But now, she realized she needed to go back to the Gordon family’s residence to gather any clues about “that man.”

In the solemn atmosphere of the funeral home, Cecelia, despite not being favored by the Gordon family during her lifetime, received a grand and dignified burial. The Gordons used the asion of Cecelia’s funeral not just as a mark of respect but also as an opportunity to reinforce their social ties, extending invitations far and wide.

Ellie, having arrived, ced arge bouquet of flowers respectfully in front of Cecelia’s gravestone.

“Has Kaiden not arrived yet?” Houston asked Ellie.

“He’s tied up with work,” Ellie responded, choosing not to mention that she hadn’t informed Kaiden about the funeral.

Litzy, overhearing their exchange, felt a surge of relief at Kaiden’s absence.

“Did grandmother have any acquaintanceship with a younger man during her life?” Ellie, seizing a moment, posed a question.

“How could that be possible?” Houston replied with certainty. “Absolutely not. In herter years, her interactions were primarily with her peers, fellow elderlydies.”

“How can we remember these? If you’re seeking information, I suggest checking the second-floor lounge for any of grandmother’s possessions,” Litzy interjected, her tonecking warmth.

Cecelia’s belongings, few as they were, had been boxed up in a single carton. Ellie meticulously went through the items but found nothing of significance.

Disheartened, she sighed and exited the lounge. As she was about to descend the stairs, Demi intercepted her.

With Cecelia’s passing, Ellie felt no desire to maintain ties with the Gordon family. She regarded Demi with a fleeting, indifferent nce and continued on her way.
