Chapter 535

    ?Chapter 535:

“Miss Gordon… Um, Mrs. Thorpe,” Carole corrected herself, reluctantly following Kaiden’s preference.

Ellie arched an eyebrow. “I do prefer you call me ‘Mrs. Thorpe’. It just sounds right.”

Truthfully, Ellie wanted to avoid Carole whenever she could.

Carole clenched her jaw to hold back her anger.

“Why are you even here?” Kaiden questioned, his tone sharp.

“I made some soup for your mom,” Carole exined, holding a thermos.

She had been at the hospital for two days, hoping to run into Kaiden. She hadn’t expected him to bring Ellie along.

“Your mom’s in the hospital?” Ellie asked, genuinely surprised.

Kaiden nodded and motioned for her to follow him into a room. Carole didn’t hesitate to follow them.

Inside, Jorge was looking after Brisa in the room. Her hair fell softly over her shoulders, making her appear incredibly gentle. Brisa gave Jorge a bright, youthful smile, full of love.

Ellie saw Brisa light up with joy for the first time, her happiness fueled by Jorge’s presence.

As the door creaked open, Brisa and Jorge turned their heads.

“El, what took you so long toe visit me?” Brisa’s face lit up at the sight of Ellie, but as soon as her gaze fell on Kaiden, she quickly looked away. Her illness had affected her memory, making her forget that she had tricked Jorge into visiting her by skipping her medication. All she remembered was that she had made Kaiden feel down.

Ellie gave Jorge a small nod, while Kaiden chose to ignore himpletely.

Carole noticed Jorge’s look and nced down, feeling anxious. She didn’t want anything to do with Jorge because Kaiden wasn’t fond of his father, but Jorge had something on her.

“I’m sorry for my bted visit. I just found out today that you were in the hospital,” Ellie said apologetically to Brisa.

“It’s okay, really!” Brisa replied, clearly in a good mood.

“Brisa, I’ve brought you some chicken soup.” With a smile, Carole ced the soup on the small table in the room.

Though Brisa had noticed Carole, Ellie’s arrival thrilled her so much that she barely acknowledged Carole’s gesture.

“Thanks, Carole!” Her thanks were quick, her attention already back on chatting with Ellie.

Feeling somewhat excluded, Carole shifted ufortably.

“Kaiden, did you not notice me?” Jorge finally said, clearly displeased. Brisa turned to Kaiden, her expression full of hope. “Kaiden, say something to your dad! Haven’t you always wondered when he woulde home?”

Kaiden’s expression remained cold and unemotional. “Mom, that was a long time ago,” he said tly. He hadn’t asked about Jorge since he was five.
