?Chapter 534:
Ellie looked at him, puzzled. Was he implying he’d support her over Carole?
Susanna gave Ellie a knowing wink, signaling her thoughts about Daniel were right.
Ellie grinned. “You’re wee, Mr. Lambert.” She felt a sense of duty to assist Susanna, owing to their friendship.
He continued, “Everyone tends to call me ‘Mr. Lambert’, but you can call me ‘Daniel’, just like your husband does.”
Ellie nodded and quickly changed the subject. She turned to Susanna and said, “I need to let you know, I’ll have to push back my lecture. I’m not going to lecture next week.”
Susanna looked confused. “I thought you were a professor at Critport University?”
“No, my assignment was to deliver six lessons to the students. I’vepleted half of them so far.” Susanna was taken aback. It turned out Ellie wasn’t officially a professor and would be leaving the university eventually.
Susanna had only recentlypleted her exchange student application at the university, eager to stay with Ellie!
When Kaiden returned after ending a phone call, he noticed Susanna’s disheartened look but chose not to inquire about her chat with Ellie. After greeting Daniel, he took Ellie off to another top-tier private hospital.
“Daniel…”
Before Susanna could continue, Daniel anticipated her concern. “Susanna, you’re twenty-two. It’s time you handled your own issues.”
Susanna found herself speechless. Daniel had arranged everything. She was clueless about how to undo those arrangements. She hadn’t truly desired to study at Critport University; her registration as an exchange student was driven purely by her admiration for Ellie.
Now, learning that Ellie would soon depart the university filled her with regret.
Desperately, she pleaded with him, “But aren’t you my fiancé? Come on, you should help me out with my problems!”
She acted like a child who felt she wasn’t being treated fairly. Her delicate face became even prettier as she pouted her lips in a flirtatious manner.
Daniel looked at her briefly. “A husband should support his wife. Marry me, and I might just help you out.”
“Never mind!” Susanna let out a sigh. She understood that he viewed her as immature, cking in wisdom and ambition. Because she was not his type, she didn’t want to tie them together through marriage.
His expression darkened at her words. He looked away from her and said, “Then figure it out on your own.”
Bodyguards were stationed at every corner on the VIP floor of the hospital. Ellie looked around with curiosity, trying to guess who the patient might be. It was then that she saw a striking figure rushing toward them.
“Kaiden!” Carole called out, her face lighting up at the sight of him. Her gaze quickly shifted to Ellie, who was right behind him.
