Chapter 533

    ?Chapter 533:

Kaidenughed softly and wrapped his arms around her.

“Please, I want to hold you like we used to when we slept together.”

He held her close, breathing in her scent, which calmed his thoughts. Soon, he drifted off to sleep, sumbing to the exhaustion from nights without rest.

Ellie noticed his breathing slow down, bing deep and steady. The warm breath from his nose lightly brushed the back of her neck. She tried to shift away from the sensation, but her movements woke him. Kaiden held her tighter, making it clear she wasn’t going anywhere.

Ellie turned to face him. He furrowed his brows, giving her a stern look, as if he were a dragon guarding his treasure from an enemy. She closed her eyes, enjoying the warmth from his chest, feeling as though she was near a cozy oven.

She shifted again to find a morefortable position.

“Babe, try not to move…” he murmured softly.

She then fell into a deep sleep.

As dawn broke, a nurse knocked on the door three times before entering the room with a cart of medications and injections. She was surprised to find the couple closely huddled together on the narrow hospital bed.

The woman was curled up in the man’s arms, her face pressed against his chest, while the man gently held her waist. The extra bed meant for caregivers was untouched. It seemed they preferred thefort of being together over sleeping separately.

“It’s time for Miss Gordon’s IV drip,” the nurse said, slightly embarrassed, as she held up the medication.

“Please, keep it quiet,” Kaiden whispered, asking the nurse to hang the medicine on a hook. He carefully got out of bed and gently pulled Ellie’s left hand from under the nket.

He had heard the nurse’s knock but chose not to answer, wanting to let Ellie sleep a little longer. The room was filled with silence, broken only by the soft sounds of the nurse preparing the injection. She moved with precision, ensuring that Ellie’s sleep remained undisturbed. Luckily, the nurse managed toplete her task without waking Ellie.

Ellie eventually stirred, the IV drip finished, and a fresh piece of gauze now on the back of her hand. She looked around, puzzled by the nurse’s meaningful gaze.

“Ellie!” Susanna burst into the room, holding a bunch of flowers. “The nurse said you’re getting out of the hospital today. That’s awesome!” Ellie took the flowers, clearly delighted. She thought her fever was nothing serious and didn’t expect Susanna to make such a fuss.

Kaiden, seeing the flowers, couldn’t help but remember Howard giving Ellie a simr gift. He gave Daniel, who had arrived with Susanna, a nod as a way of saying hello, then stepped away to take a call from work.

“Miss Gordon, you and Kaiden are back together?” Daniel inquired. He sensed that things were improving between them.

Ellie smiled. “Are you here to congratte me, or do you feel bad for Carole?”

Daniel paused, then smiled. It was no secret Ellie wasn’t fond of him, and she wasn’t shy about showing it. He rified, “Carole’s not my real sister. My granddad adopted her. And I haven’t forgotten how you saved Susanna.”
