Chapter 521

    ?Chapter 521:

“Howard, our family is entering a big deal with GT Group, and they’ve asked specifically for you to be the projectwyer. You need toe home right away.”

Howard’s hand shook as he held the phone. GT Group… That was Kaiden’spany. This was his way of getting Howard away from Ellie. It was also a clear message from Kaiden that Howard was no match for him.

    At the hospital

“The patient’s got a bit of a fever and low blood sugar, nothing to worry about,” the doctor announced as he wrapped up Ellie’s file.

“But why would she have a fever?” Kaiden frowned, puzzled.

The weather had been mild, without a hint of chill or rain. During their intimate moments yesterday, he had made sure Ellie wasn’t chilled.

Catching sight of the marks on Ellie’s neck, the doctor gave Kaiden a meaningful look.

“You should avoid engaging in excessively prolonged sexual activity,” he exined. “We see quite a few cases of fever after intense sexual activities. Young folks ought to be aware of their limits.”

Pausing for a moment, Kaiden nodded. “Understood.”

Ellie looked particrly vulnerable on the hospital bed. Her skin was pale, and an IV needle was inserted into her left hand. Seeing her in such a state, Kaiden immediately felt a pang of regret for his actions the previous day.

He took a seat next to her, carefully brushing a strand of hair from her face, his touch gentle, betraying a softness he hadn’t realized was there.

As Ellie came around, herst clear memory was of the simple design of a man’s wedding ring—Kaiden’s ring. Slowly, her eyes fluttered open, the sharp scent of hospital disinfectant wrinkling her nose. She immediately met Kaiden’s gaze.

Kaiden was just about to ask if she was feeling unwell when she spoke.

“Did youe here with the divorce papers?” she asked, her voice raspy from illness.

That was something Kaiden had momentarily forgotten.

“The papers aren’t ready yet,” he responded, his voice tight.

The truth was, thewyer hadn’t even been notified to prepare them. Ellie couldn’t help but think that if things were moving this slowly, maybe it was time for him to find a newwyer.

“Before I passed out, I saw you,” Ellie said. “If you’re not here with divorce papers, why were you there?”

Ellie had assumed Kaiden had left. But in reality, he had switched cars and followed her—from the hotel to her dorm, and then to her ssroom that morning. The way he behaved made him seem like a dreadful stalker.

Kaiden, however, didn’t reply to her question. Instead, his expression darkened at the memory.

“Ellie, do you even know how to take care of yourself? Don’t you know to go to the hospital when you’re feeling sick? Can’t you tell when you’ve got a high fever? Do you want to harm yourself?”
