?Chapter 458:
Demi was her only child, and she would ensure only the best for her.
“Mom, should I go to the hospital for a check-up? I’m worried that the fall might have hurt the baby,” Demi asked in concern. She thought it was better to be safe than sorry.
“No need to go to the hospital; it will be fine,” Litzy said confidently.
“Huh? Why?” Demi asked, surprised by the conviction in Litzy’s voice. Litzy nced at Demi’s stomach.
She was sure nothing would happen to the baby because there was no baby inside Demi’s stomach!
The fake pregnancy was just a temporary measure to cate Demi and ensure that the Thorpe family wouldn’t throw her out.
Litzy couldn’t exin the reason behind her assurance, and luckily, Demi decided not to pursue the conversation further.
Demi stroked her t belly contentedly, waiting for the baby bump to appear in two months.
Litzy’s gaze grew darker and more sinister as she watched Ellie’s departing figure.
She had been racking her brain about how to resolve the issue of Demi’s fake pregnancy. Ellie’s push had given her an idea!
Once outside, Houston said gently, “Ellie, you were indeed wrong in this matter, but I’m willing to help you. As your father, I care about you.”
Ellie sneered inwardly.
Such bullshit! She wasn’t wrong.
Obviously, he was not trying to help her. Instead, he was probably waiting for her to get attacked so that he could swoop in and y the hero!
“I heard Kaiden’s legs have healed,” Houston changed the subject, revealing his real intention. “That’s good news! We should have a family reunion dinner sometime.”
Now Ellie saw through it all. Houston was showing concern just to curry favor with Kaiden!
“I will leave; you can head back from here,” Ellie interrupted Houston abruptly.

She had naively believed that Houston was the only person in that family who might still have some affection for her.
It turned out to be a joke!
She suddenly felt all her strength drain away.
After walking away from the vi and ensuring the Gordons couldn’t see her anymore, she squatted on the curb, hugging her knees, and rested her chin on her arms.
Her eyshes trembled like the wings of a butterfly; her heart was so weary it felt like it was breaking into two. Something had changed irrevocably today.
They could never take back the hurtful words.
Ellie felt utterly alone in the world, abandoned first by her lover and then by her family.
Her heart ached with every breath, each one filled with pain.
If it started to rain right now, she would be like the mistreated heroine in a movie!
After God knows how long, Ellie inadvertently lifted her eyes a little and noticed a wheelchair in her peripheral vision.
A pair of distinctly masculine feet werefortably positioned on the footrest of the wheelchair.
